We had some initial mishaps with the booking of our room (make sure you request a room on the higher floor levels so that you get a view - we had a view of the car park at first which we were disappointed with, especially as we had paid more for a bath next to the window to celebrate my 30th birthday). Really nice hotel with a pleasant roof terrace and great staff; the free coffee all day was a nice touch as were the free croissants first thing. Lots of interesting food options nearby - iconic dining at: The Roxy; Bubby’s and Katz Diner were all only a short walk away. There are good transport connections via the nearby subway station and it sits in a very friendly and safe neighbourhood on the border between Chinatown and Little Italy.

My daughter and I had a trip to New York for our big birthdays, hotel was very central close to port authority, walking distance to time square and many other areas. Hotel staff made our visit special for us and are very helpful , friendly , professional and knowledgeable about the surrounding area. I would avoid 9th Avenue at night time as it didn’t feel very safe .

Such a great stay here. Right in midtown Manhattan in the heart of the action but at a really reasonable price. The room was small but immaculate. I requested a higher room with a view and the hotel did exactly that for us - the 21st floor with a beautiful view to wake up to. I would definitely recommend staying at CIVILIAN and I would definitely stay here again.

There is absolutely nothing bad to say about Kixby. The location is as safe as it gets,easy walking distance from Penn Station if you come in by LIRR/Airtrain from JFK(30 mins hassle free way to get into Manhattan) and the subway is 50 yards from the front door. There are the best selection of bars,restaurants and eateries within minutes of the hotel as well as Maddison Square Garden and the Empire State Building. We arrived a little after 3pm, and had a lovely greeting from staff, but our room wasn’t ready so we had to wait. We booked and paid through Expedia… an Empire via room with living space. Please note that the hotel does not offer this type of room. None of their Empire View rooms have the separate living room area. The Empire view rooms do give a great view of the Empire State Building but their ‘living room’ is a tiny space with a chaise and a TV. Management were excellent with us and moved us...

Excellent location just four minutes’ walk from 9/11 Memorial Pools and Museum. Warm welcome from staff. Clean and comfortable room. Excellent bar area in the evening and efficient good value breakfast deli.

It was just as I expected. It was not noisy at all (being so close to Times Square). I booked a room with a bunk bed and it was as small as shown in the pictures so definitely as expected. Stay was comfortable.

Great location, good pricing, friendly staff. If your are looking for a comfortable and modern stay with just the basics then I don’t see any reason to complain about this hotel. A very useful option to avoid paying a fortune in the more opulent hotels. They kindly extended my checkout until 12pm for no extra charge.

GOOD LOCATION AND FRIENDLY STAFF

Our stay at Pod 39 was very enjoyable. The hotel location is perfect. Quiet yet close to Grand Central, Chrysrel Building, Empire State and Times Square, lots of shop and eating out options nearby. The hotel itself is in good condition. Its highlight is the rooftop. In the morning the bar is closed but you can still go there and eat breakfast & enjoy the views. Downstairs they have another bar. The hotel itself is clean and centrally located for NYC tourism in Times Sq. the staff are great, breakfast included was a good start to each day and the price we got through Expedia was a bargain. Be warned that there is a migrant shelter directly opposite the hotel which can be intimidating as large groups hang around outside - the hotel have a regular security guard and the NYPD are outside the shelter all the time.

A fantastic hotel but the area was a little daunting for our children when it went dark.

Lovely small boutique hotel in a great location downtown away from the main hustle and bustle. Staff were friendly and helpful, rooms were clean and quiet with a great shower and complimentary toiletries. Tea and coffee facilities in the lounge 24/7 plus a complimentary breakfast of pastries and orange juice which was a welcome surprise. It is a little dated and could perhaps do with some modern decoration but this didn't really distract from a great stay.
