"We stayed with a friend and her 4 year old - the folks running the farm were super friendly, and the 4 yo is still talking about how she misses Ben & Bob (the farm Collies). The cottage is on a working farm, and has been nicely restored, though it's clearly an old building, and I must have banged my head *every* time I went to load the fire in the kitchen! "A really great hotel within easy walking distance of the shops and eateries. Friendly staff, tastt breakfast, our room was comfortable and well-equipped with comolimentary G&T! We had a balcony over looking the gardens and we used the bijou space when we arrived, all rather lovely."

"The room was very clean and well maintained and the comfort of the bed was amazing. Check in staff were polite and friendly. Breakfast was Self service but superb. We didn’t use the spa on this occasion as we were there to attend a wedding but have used it previously and it is top notch. My only bug bear is that due to not booking direct I had to pay for parking at £12. This didn’t sit right with me because if using the spa, parking is free, if I had just attended the wedding and had not stayed the night parking would have been free. So then when I give them more custom of staying the night I had to pay because I hadn’t booked directly."

"Special shout out to the cleaning staff, we were in a hurry and left things haphazard, not expecting them to clean but returned to a spotlesss room and even our little snack bags secured and closed so the crisps don’t go stale :’) they def went above and beyond what we didn’t expect but staff everywhere was super helpful from reception to bar and restaurant ! Would highly recommend to anyone visiting the area"

"Amazing staff, great location and parking The food is average and the menu is very limited, the room (19) has been updated recently but was right by the the main road and a noisy extract fan on the floor below which came on at 4.15am every morning. Overall it’s a nice big hotel that has been in the process of renovation for the last few years. It would be a much better experience if they could expand the menu and quality of the food."

"Great location, very handy having a parking spot in Ambleside. Well situated, short walk into town and very handy for the cinemas & restaurants. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent, plenty of choice and freshly cooked to order. Lovely big room with a great view. Thought it might be noisy as it's by the main road but this wasn't a problem at all."
