Although the building could do with a little tlc in places, our room was large, clean and tidy. The breakfast was excellent and bar food really good too. The bar area is fairly small and well used by locals but we did find a table both nights we were there. The biggest plus for us were the staff who are efficient and friendly and we wouldn’t hesitate to return if in the area. It’s in a quiet area but there are plenty of walks and an ideal base for exploring other towns and sites.

Great location, friendly owner and house keeper, well maintained with a cosy homely feel. The kitchen was well equiped for self catering and the home was kept warm for our autumnal stay. Towels were provided as were gowns and slippers which were a thoughtful addition for the use of the hot tub. A much appreciated basket of goodies greeted us on arrival. Would happily return.

It's a nice pub that is part of the Thwaites chain. Menu doesn't cater well for Vegetarians and not at all for Vegans. Disappointing to see them burning coal on the fire in July, really thoughtless. Room was lovely though

We had a really enjoyable stay! The hotel staff went over and above to help us and give great service. I would 100% recommend this hotel. Rooms were clean, huge bathrooms and seriously comfy beds.

Country hotel set in beautiful grounds, but modern and comfortable inside, friendly helpful staff and delicious food made for a relaxing short break. This was made even more special by a large delightful room and the most comfortable bed I have ever slept on.

An excellent inn/accommodation with good food and reasonable prices. An old inn, much extend and beautifully decorated. Room are in the pub and 2 outside buildings. Only issue I would have is parking and access. . The site rises to the rear, both to the parking and the outside buildings. I use a walking stick and could just about manage the slopes and the stairs but severe walkers or wheel chair users would not. There is disabled parking (and electric charge points) availed. Having been to the bar area for years I was really looking forward to staying in one of the rooms. The room was very nice, very spacious with large wardrobe and kettle with tea and coffee. The huge bed was so comfy, in fact the rooms couldn't be any better. The bathroom was lovely and spacious too with a great powerful hot shower, and the towels were beautiful. Good location for the National Park and good food.

Lovely little place. Very quite also. Wish the pub was open for drinks at any time but but not your typical pub. Food there was lovely though! Especially the sea bass. Walk in shower was amazing! Great if you need an accessible rooms

It wasn't easy to find - thank goodness for the satnav! - but it was certainly worth finding. Set in tranquil countryside with not a street light in sight, this hotel is a haven from the frantic world. The proprietors are friendly and helpful, the room was of a high standard and the breakfast was as close to perfect as it could have been. we were served tea and coffee in the comfortable lounge on arrival, given fresh milk to replace the uht pots on the hospitality tray and were made to feel...

We really enjoyed our stay in this beautiful place. Lovely, helpful staff, comfortable, clean rooms and a hearty breakfast. What more could you ask for?

Loved it. Great spot with a superb pub 10 yards from the door. Good walks into nearby towns too.

What gem of a place , for a solo traveller looking for an overnight stay this was brilliant. Lovely room , great break fast and a s great price .

Location..it has beautiful views of the surrounding countryside. ( need a car) Rooms are very comfortable, tea /kettle etc. Stairs are a little steep. staff are lovely ,had a very pleasant stay. We arrived Saturday lunch time, they had a party of 40 in, but fitted us in and it was delicious! staff attentive and it arrived quickly so all good, so I am very sad ( and surprised ) to say breakfast was poor ! we didn't opt for the buffet and cooked ,rather just the cooked, it took ages to appear...
