Located in cute, quiet neighbourhood off High Street off Tufnell Park underground. Takes no time to get into city centre. Staff are incredibly friendly and generous. Bent over backwards to answer any questions I had about directions etc. Hot, homemade breakfast and the place is always kept clean. Shared bathroom are a non issue. I've stayed here on two occasions and other than breakfast I never seem to bump into anyone. I've never had a line up to use any facilities. There are only 4-5 rooms per floor. It's not the fanciest place in the world but I don't go to London to spend time in a hotel, I go to be in London. It more than fulfills what one needs when staying in the city. Thanks Pino and gang for everything!

Look out for sunbathing foxes & cubs
Clean, quiet, (apart from all them awful birds singing) = positively green & leafy rural in fact. Warm & Welcoming. Does what it says on the tin etc. The 390 bus (KGX>Archway, Carleton Rd stop) = 5 mins walk away and runs 24/7 is Simply Epic One slight niggle = Wifi - do we need a bigger router for the number of possible users?

Smaller washroom than could be expected
Wash room size was too small. Also, bad smell was coming from wash room. The owner lady was very much courteous. She gave us a warm welcome and served tasty breakfast.

My partner chose this hotel. I would class it as a bed and breakfast. It was a bit run down and not upkept to a high standard. The staff were very nice and genuinely accommodating.

Adequate for our needs.
The room was a little cramped. there were three of us, so we had a double and a single. Not much room for anything else. It was also VERY hot there - it was in the middle of the heat wave. Very little air coming in. The lady was very pleasant. Breakfast was good. This is a B&B and not a hotel. There are no lounge facilities.

Bugs
The worst part was I got bit by bedbugs!!! The man worker there said I cost him 374 pounds to get the room checked and that room was feee of bed bugs, but I was to 3 doctors that stated they were new bugs. I was very offended when he told me people from US and India and most likely to bring over bed bugs. The female worker there was very friendly and make great eggs in the morning. I just wish I would have not got bitten by bugs and then told I brought them over.

Great value for the money !
Everything really good value for the price ! Only ONE really disturbing item which was the sound transmitting from other rooms - I could literally hear people breathing in the neighbouring room ! But everything else makes The Five Kings really recommendable !!!

Nice local B&B
I stayed with my kids while our house was being painted. It was a warm comfortable room. Ensuite was small but functional & the waster was nice & warm in the shower. Breakfast was lovely, good selection & bacon & eggs were delicious. It’s about a 7-10 minutes walk from the nearest bus stop, tube us further, but it’s not noisy which was good with young kids who still needed to get up for school.

Hotel is in a pleasant location. The rooms are clean and adequate for what we required. Breakfast was ok. The TV only has around five channels, none of which most people would watch. You cannot even get the standard channels of BBC or ITV. Also, the internet connection is very unreliable. So, if all you need is somewhere relatively clean in a decent area to lay down your head and have a shower, then it's fine. But, I wouldn't want to spend too much time in the room. Finally, one particular member needs to learn how to treat hotel residents.

Seriously, give this place a miss.
Where to start really. We stayed in a triple room that was barely big enough for a double bed. The curtain rail fell down as soon as we walked in. The drawers looked like they'd been in a flood, insides were badly water damaged. The bathroom was a cubicle wet room configuration, toilet pan badly stained. The woodchip wallpaper was peeling off the walls and the wardrobe space was a rail on the wall with three coathangers on it. Only two towels left out for three people. First morning arrived for breakfast at 9am and were told too late for cooked breakfast even thou end of breakfast wasn't until 9.15am. Second morning arrived in time, however cooked breakfast only actually consisted of two fried eggs two rashers of bacon and baked beans. There is a pretty garden, which is spoilt by rusty furniture and a swing seat that was completely covered in green mildew. No tea making facilities in room and the tea and coffe machine in the foyer, which was chargeable, wasn't working. The whole place was very shabby and did not live up to expectations. I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy, and certainly wouldn't visit again.

Inexpensive, and you get what you pay for
The gal who makes breakfast and is often at the service window was the great part of this establishment. She is friendly and tries to compensate for the dumpy accommodations. It's always sad to me when a formerly beautiful place is updated with the very cheapest of materials. A few examples: the plastic towel rack, which was too high for me to reach, was put on poorly, so I knocked if off several times when leaping to put a towel on it; the toilet veers to one side if you move a bit; the ribbed bottom of the shower stall is both painful to the feet and permanently stained; having no shower curtain means water all over the bathroom, but a curtain would probably make the stall deeply dark; the throw pillows on the bed are terribly pilled and inspired a shiver; the mirror in the main room is in front of a desk, so it's very difficult to actually use. No personality in the room. Though I know this wouldn't bother everyone, I found it tough to have no healthy offerings for breakfast (no fruit, plain water available - you could buy water, only.) There was a fiber cereal offered. It seemed stale, but perhaps that was how it tasted! Also no brewed coffee, only instant. (Though UK is the land of tea, coffee seemed to be abundantly offered and enjoyed everywhere.) Not too far from the Tube, and felt like a safe enough neighborhood. I was there in a warm spring with cool nights and it was necessary to keep the unscreened window open at night for comfort. Overwarm in the day.

We arrived quite late, had to ring the doorbell. the receptionist was very nice and helpful, the room was Ok Breakfast was good, however the breakfast room was downstairs and my partner had trouble with the staircase. after breakfast the receptionist helped my partner out to the front through the garden, reducing the number of steps she had to deal with. which was most helpful.

Great service, but compromise on room comfort
Very welcoming hotel - the service puts larger chains to shame - however the room was small, with a tiny ensuite, a plastic triangular cubicle inserted into the room. Tufnell Park is a nice environment, and the price is fair, but be aware that the room comfort is low.

Value for money but the area isn't the safest
My second stay at this hotel. The only things that I am not happy with is the area - on another stay with another hotel in the area my motorbike was stolen after it was only once parked on the road for a few hours - and the wifi has significant drop outs. Still, with the wifi being functional for more than two third of my stay it scored better than most hotels for that price in the area, in fact I know only one hotel that has better wifi and another one that's the same as good. So if you don't rely on wifi and don't arrive on two wheels I would fully recommend this place.

Walls too thin - kept awake by music and TV
Awful - someone started playing Christmas songs at 4 in the morning, I assume whoever was in the kitchen below (as I was on ground floor). Following that, the person staying next door put their TV on really loud. I went to reception and asked them to speak with the person in the room to get the sound turned down but they didnt bother. They guy on reception was either lazy and unhelpful or, he knew that the walls were so paper thin that Id hear it regardless, so whats the point.

Unfriendly , unclean and too tight
Pros: quite neighborhood, not too far from bus station. Cons:Not clean, rooms and bathrooms are too tight, you only get clean towels every other day, many things don't work like wall outlet, bathroom vents. Bring your own shampoo, they only supply liquid soap.Breakfast is average. Unfriendly receptionists , they started to threaten me to check out and leave five minutes before the time was totally over.

Weeklong London Trip
Well, the rooms were pretty tiny! There were two of us and the first room we had barely fit a bed and a dresser. The bathroom was super small. The owner however did try his best to accommodate us, he moved us around a lot, but the rooms got better each day, and for the last half of our trip we were in a larger room with two beds. There was a good cold breakfast everyday with the option of a hot one on request. I would recommend, but would suggest getting a room with two beds.

Pleasant stay in a nice area
Booked this place for one night in June as I was down from the North for a show and was glad I chose to stay here. It was cheap but while it wasn't five star it was more than worth the asking price and will happily stay here again. I do have to point out though that the girl behind the desk must have been trained by Basil Fawlty because she wasn't the most helpful and incredibly grumpy but please believe me when I say this isn't a bad thing, in a strange way it actually added to the charm of the place.

our fun trip
our group occupied 2 separate rooms. 2 persons in 1 room and 3 persons in the other room. both rooms same size, very tiny and the ensuite was about the size of a telephone booth; however, it gave us the necessities and breakfast was wonderful. neighborhood of beautiful homes was peaceful and we felt very safe coming in late at night. manager and other staff were wonderful and very helpful. we highly recommend this B&B, close to tube and grocery and restaurants.

Nothing fancy but serves its purpose well enough
The hotel is conveniently located close to public transit in a nice, quiet residential neighbourhood. Checking in was easy, and the person who welcomed me was quite pleasant. The room was small but comfortable. There was a sink in the room, which was helpful since the toilet and shower areas are shared between 4 to 5 rooms on the same floor. Because of this bathroom-sharing, and use by different guests at different times of the day, I never saw that the toilet or shower areas were fully cleaned, and for the last 36 hours of my stay, there was no toilet paper in the toilet stall. Breakfast was offered as part of my stay, although the hours were quite limited (7:00 to 8:45 a.m. for every day except New Year's, when it was 9:00 to 10:00). The continental breakfast was adequate, and a hot breakfast could also be ordered directly from the kitchen. Checkout was, again, very quick and easy. Overall, the Five Kings Hotel served my purpose of providing a relatively inexpensive room for a few nights during the holiday period.

Excellent value for money, friendly staff
The owner could not do enough for my sister and I. He was kind enough to let us check in early so we didn't have to hawk our suitcases around London. The hotel is as described by the owner "no frills" but it was extremely clean and the lady who greeted us was lovely. The room was basic but very clean and comfortable. We had a lovely quiet night's sleep and the breakfast was ideal for us with a choice of cereal, fruit juice, toast and bacon egg and beans. We certainly feel like we had value for money and if people start to criticise the amenities they have to remember if they want 5 star facilities then you have to pay for them.

OK for a cheap overnight stay in London
The only criticism: Our room which was a triple, was advertised as having a single and a double, the single was fine but the double, jesus, that isn't a double! Just be weary of the double sizes folks. Otherwise everything was spot on, breakfast was great and the chap at the check-in is very helpful.
