West Lodge Park Hotel

"West Lodge Park used to be a top quality hotel but in the challenging years since the pandemic it has slipped somewhat. Staff are all excellent and very helpful but the bedroom decor and maintenance of bedrooms/en suites has declined unfortunately. The bar area is currently being redecorated so hopefully that'll be an improvement. We no longer eat breakfast there as it's now not cooked fresh to order (buffet style hot food only) and is overpriced too. I do hope that they'll begin a program of refurbishment for the bedrooms/en suites very soon. We still use WLP hotel as there are very few alternatives."

"It would have been nice for more info in the room as I was not sure if there was room service. I could see a 24 hour menu which may have been for this but it only had 2 dinner items on which is not really alot for people who want room service. It was brilliant that breakfast was served from 4 am and that we could take away some continental as we had to leave at 4 and the ease of going straight from hotel to airport under a covered walkway was excellent."

"Grove hotel stay Positives: Executive room, generous size, comfortable bed, air conditioning and fridge in room. Check in smooth, staff were friendly and helpful. Food in the restaurant was excellent. Could be improved: Air conditioning was a welcome addition to the room but was very noisy, sounds like it needs a service and the fans put back in alignment. Fridge was also a good addition, it gave a high pitched sound and emitted heat. Perhaps an in-unit fridge would be better? The door to the en-suite was in need of attention, the veneer at the bottom is cracked and peeling, most of the door appeared to have water damage. Food in the restaurant, the starter was described as potato and leek soup, it was actually sweet potato and leek, delicious but not what I expected. My husband and I both ordered the steak, which was cooked to perfection, but we were not offered or given steak knives. The restaurant staff were attentive and polite when engaging with us, however they grouped together for a laugh and joke in view of and within earshot of the guests. It is lovely to see they have a good rapport, but not very professional."

"Hotel is lovely but starting to look dated with damaged wood work and peeling paint. I had the unfortunate experience as I was rudely woken in the early hours by extremely loud music ( I'm hard of hearing)"

"Good stay. Rooms large - suite was really good. Bar and terrace were nice to hang out in: Food was passable. Would stay again - but eat out."

"The staff were very helpful and super friendly. The hotel looks modern and has a great vibe around the reception and bar but it's let down by the restaurant. We found the food a bit lacklustre, especially given the price (and the service charge!). The rooms are showing their age, although comfortable there are some finer details that can't be improved on without a bit of refurbishment. The biggest thing for us though was the inefficiency of the air conditioning (I suspect it wasn't working at all), we spent a very warm and stuffy night in the room as we felt it was too late to inform reception and we were getting up very early for a flight. Would I stay again? Yes, but have food as a bar snack and remove the service charge and make sure that the air conditioning is working."
