"Very relaxed stay. Short walk from station or book a taxi for a small fee if you have luggage. Ruriko-in temple and Mt Hiei cable car station is very close with lots of hiking and walking trails. Dinner was very nice and staff were super friendly. Special thanks to Hotel Manager Mr Koichi and all staff for making our stay an enjoyable one."

"This is the perfect place for an authentic Japanese experience. The staff are wonderful and the meals are superb. Tranquil surroundings with a 5 star multi-course meals each day for breakfast and dinner. The sauna and hot baths were great for winding down after a day of touring. Touring was easy because bus lines and train lines are nearby. We were sorry to leave the Tea House and really hope to return some day. "

"Staff was great. Very friendly. I've stayed at 4 hotels this trip to Japan. This staff was the best at recommending things to do and what to see given the short amount of time I had in Kyoto. They even helped give me good tips to get back to Kyoto station via train with my luggage. Would definitely recommend this hotel to friends. The location was a concern at first, but it was a great location getting home at the end of the day and also not too far from the forrest. Really appreciated...

"Fantastic Ryokan experience, from start to finish. Only 30 min away from Tokyo and yet very secluded. Note that Momijiya consist of two different accomodations: the main building up by the road (Honkan Sansou), and a more exclusive annex down by the river (Bekkan Kawa No Iori. This review concern the latter. Shuttle bus service is offered from Hanazono station, among a few others. "

"It is a 20 min taxi drive out of kyoto which costs around 5,000 yen. The properly is a very old building. However because it is a traditional ryokan, it fits that image and hence it's fine. Do include the full board option where they take you to a riverside location 5 min away on a shuttle bus. That location is spectacular for a kaseki meal.
