The room was clean and had just enough space for 2 people, maybe not for people with bigger/larger amounts of luggage than 1/person. The hotel was located within walking distance of Nijo Castle and to Kyoto Gyoen National Garden where the Kyoto Imperial Palace is located. The Garden and the Imperial Palace grounds are free to enter, so it was a very pleasant experience regardless of the rain. If you are looking for a quieter, more laid-back area to stay in with food options, I would recommend staying at Agora Nijo.

Understanding that it's a budget option business hotel and not a fancy resort, this place was amazing. Very cheap during rainy season, and the lady at the reception was very nice. She didn't speak a lot of English and we didn't speak a lot of Japanese, but we made it work. Our rooms were bigger than usual for Japan, even though it was cheap. There was a vending machine and free coffee in the lobby.
