First of all we were a bridal party the lodge was initially tidy but as for cleaning is another matter as we set out to make an evening meal for ourselves we needed the oven to work which it didn’t also there were cobwebs in the pan cupboard and the windows were dirty outside we had Christopher the night manager who was excellent in solving our problem he is an asset to this place you can be assure if you have a problem he’s the best man to solve it thank you Christopher from the brides mum, the venue was exceptional in every way thats from relatives who had rooms and the breakfasts in all its a beautiful place to go, so thank you to the staff who were lovely

I'm disabled and use mobility scooter and had an accessible room which was perfect ,staff very helpful and put ramps on the small stepped area for me ,a lovely relaxing stay and would highly recommend

Stayed here for a company function. The hotel looks very nice from the outside, staff at reception were pleasant and polite. Booked a deluxe double, not sure what bit of it was deluxe, the decor looks tired and outdated, old style mahogony furniture, decor reminded me of 1990's / 2000 style wallpaper. Bathroom clean, bed comfortable. Stayed in lake side room but looked out at a fence and barrels and crates at the back of the bar, nothing deluxe about the lake view (thought there was a law about falsely advertising something). On a positive the evening function room was great and the food was very good, just a disappointment with my room.

Mould around the bath. Toilet did not flush. No hot water for a shower when I arrived in the evening. Paid £15 for b’fast. Fruit sliced on the table had gone brown. Mixed fruit was mush so must have been frozen. Asked for a latta I was give a tall instant coffee with a drop of milk. I could go on but no point as nothing will change.

A lovely but too brief a visit
Reaching the reception desk, I was greeted by a welcoming smile from a young woman called Lucy, who quickly processed my checking in, and doublecheck that the room is prepared ready for me to move into, and was very efficient and helpful. The room is on the top floor up a second small flight of stairs, who is very comfortably appointed with a view of the small lake and fountains outside. I met my friend in the bar and the young barman, Sam.'G efficiently serve the drinks with a pleasant manner which he continued with in the dining room later that evening as we have chosen to dine in:we both thoroughly enjoyed our choices. There is plenty of parking and the grounds were very welcoming. If I had one small quibble, it would be that from the car parking, there was no clear signage about how to proceed to the reception, apart from going back to the road and at the front of the house, it was not immediately notable where the entrance to the reception was as there was no signage and misty. The French doors leading to the bar were also ajar, and I observed several other couples coming in also hesitating by the valet parking signs to discern which way they had to go. However, apart from that, we enjoyed a very pleasant, relaxing day away from the bustle of daily routines...

Totally untrustworthy - don't waste your time
If you're not part of an event being held at this hotel, don't bother booking as they prioritise event attenders over all others. I booked and paid for 3 double rooms 4 months in advance to ensure we had accommodation for a family wedding at a different venue, only to be informed by email at 2.30pm on the day of check in that our booking could not be fulfilled by this hotel! This was despite me calling reservations 3 days prior to travelling that everything was in order, including being informed what time we could drop vehicles at the hotel for an early start some 10 miles away. The problem for me was that i had switched my phone off as we were at a wedding, and only got the notification that the booking had been revoked when we came to confirm our return taxis at 11.30pm, which then led to an hour of calls with Hotels.Com reservations and finally a 65mile return journey home at 1am having to leave 1 vehicle at the hotel due to no longer having 2 drivers fit to drive. Overall the experience is one that will make me very wary of booking a room at hotel that offers wedding / conference facilities if we're not part of those events. Very disappointed that this hotel has clearly 'bumped' us in favour of others attending the weeding at the hotel, but who couldn't be bothered to get their own house in order and make their reservations in due time. Would never recommend this hotel.

2 night stay for wedding in June
I asked for twin beds and we had a double. The staff housekeeping staff eventually rectified this. Bedroom was very dusty. The bathroom was dated and needed an upgrade as it looked very tired. The room was very hot with only 2 small top opening windows. We were provided with a small fan which was noisy and not much help. With our climate getting warmer the hotel could do with air conditioning in the bedrooms. The dining rooms were also very warm and stuffy as no air conditioning, just a few top opening windows were open. The staff were helpful and friendly. The food was of an exceptional standard, esp in the restaurant. Breakfast had a wide choice of hot and cold options which was lovely. Beautiful well maintained grounds. Plenty of free parking on site.

Parking good. Check-in simple. Bad smell in corridors. Everything looked shabby on way to room 327. Room ok. Not a king bed, it was 2 singles joined together with a very noticeable split down the middle, so annoying. TV hard to work out. In bar, no Guinness even though pump was there. Restaurant service was fabulous. Food was bang average. Grill must’ve needed cleaning as my gammon was filthy. Too expensive. Sleep ok. Breakfast good and again service was great. Overall quite expensive for what it was, sorry.

I was disappointed with a recent reservation I made for my mum. Two specific issues that were disappointing for hotel that I expected good quality from. The room my mum stayed in had the heating on full (2 large radiators) throughout the night which meant she was unable to sleep (particularly sad as she had a close family wedding to attend the next day) Having notified staff about this nothing was initially done (or appeared to have been done to rectify this). My mum then had to ask a second time to sort this. It must also be a great expense and environmentally unfriendly to have heating that cannot easily be controlled? The second issue concerns the fact that no maid tidied her room during the day (e.g to make the bed etc.). I would expect this as a minimum standard. The hotel could be very good but was not on this occasion.
