Riverside Hotel

8/10 Good
"Stayed for two nights here in August 2026. Parking was included and undercover so great for a short stay to just leave it there safely. The room was ok, if not a little tired. With marks on the wall, and MDF work surfaces looking frayed. The room was comfy, excellent mattress and pillows, though in a heatwave, due to it being an old mill it was stifling hot. A fan was available but that just moves the heat around. Plugs were sparse, and you'll need a usb charger plug as they aren't integrated plugs yet. Staff were fabulous, really helpful, the barman was a hoot, and so friendly with guests. English Breakfast was fresh and hot, there was a plentiful choice of cereals, fruit and drinks too. We ate at night in the Tannery room, burger and a small fish and chips, both were plentiful and fairly priced. Finally it was a welcome bonus to have a swimming pool, sauna, jacuzzi and steam room available for guests to use after a full day discovering the lakes. A really pleasant stay, the hotel rooms could do with a bit of updating, though the gym, pool, bar were fresh, but it's all a matter of cost."

"The room was a good size with a lovely sea view; great kingsize bed, when we only expected a double in the classic room; very clean. Breakfast was self-service. Lancaster House Hotel

8/10 Good
"Room clean and adequate size. Would have been nice to have a fridge but we were given fresh water. Although there is no air on, they do provide a floor fan. Evening meal was delicious, as was the wine. English breakfast was ok - I couldn’t eat the sausages as it was very over seasoned with white pepper, so I didn’t enjoy it, but hubby who loves pepper was happy to eat mine. Check in and out was very easy. Annoyingly because we hadn’t booked direct with the hotel we where charged £12 parking."

Netherwood Hotel & Spa

Netherwood Hotel & Spa

10/10 Excellent
"It's got bags of character, large rooms, dark wood panelling high ceilings with decor. The breakfast / dining room has a lovely view over the bay. The bedroom and large double bed very comfortable, the tea tray complete with real milk in a mini bottle, a nice touch. The bathroom spacious although shower over bath is not to my personal preference, older folks like me need to take great care clambering in and out. The dinner meal was excellent, typical current prices but 10% service on top of the menu figures. The breakfast was buffet service but the hot items were cooked to my liking and fresh. The sausage was good quality proper flavour and not a bulk catering cheapie, which is a good sign. Good quality bread used for the toast and croissants as well. Little jars of preserves also good quality and not the cheap and tasteless stuff that comes in plastic capsules I would stay there again."
