Hotel 52 - Stanley

"Hotel was good - warm and comfortable. Beware of the breakfast in the adjacent restaurant, ‘Rangos’. Very limited choice and lukewarm tea. I sent it back and got another lukewarm pot. They need to buy a kettle. Great tea making facilities in the rooms though. Very convenient if you’re visiting Beamish, but go on the bus close to the hotel (it’s the Sunderland bus). It goes to the museum entrance and, remarkably, you get a £6 discount if you show your bus ticket or ‘twirly’ pass."

"I enjoyed my stay here. Check in was good with very helpful staff. Room was comfortable, free WiFi excellent. Didn't have ensuite but actually the toilet and showers were clean and well stocked. There was a large sink in the room for washing ect. They are clearly cleaned regularly by the staff. No kettle in the room but there is a kitchen with all cooking facilities and fridges you can use. Also breakfast cereals with milk and toast are available free which I didn't notice when I booked. Free parking and many foreign restaurants and supermarkets and takeaway available. 20 minutes walk into town . I would not hesitate coming back here. If you can manage a few noises from the stairs and road noises late at night then you'll be fine."

"Nice to have free tea and coffee at the reception also a kitchen guests can use, been a long time since had to use shared toilets and shower but overall a lick of paint in the rooms would help great location for getting to the great northern run"
