Stayed for a night as we were visiting Marwell on the Saturday. Great hotel, good location and nice facilities. Staff were very helpful as well. The only criticism is the reception system. The staff there are expected to greet guests AND take ridiculously long booking calls, and while the queue of ...
We first stayed here about 15 years ago and it was very special. The staff knew our names within about 10 minutes and we felt spoilt rotten. This time the staff were still lovely and the grounds beautiful. The service wasn't quite as good this time but we did stay at a busier time of year being the ...
A truly beautiful setting with a fine hotel. Very attentive and helpful staff. We stayed three nights. The dinner at the restaurant was inspired. Unfortunately because we did not reserve ahead, we could only book the restaurant for the third of our three nights. Lesson learned.
This is a great place to stay. It is tastefully decorated, spotlessly clean and central to the sights such as the Cathedral and shops. The staff are superb; everyone remembers my name and are really friendly. It really makes you feel at home. They are also extremely helpful. My only concerns are ...

Whether it's Valentine's Day, an anniversary or you're looking for the perfect backdrop against which to pop the question, Hampshire is a county that's perfect for the romantically inclined. Home to the New Forest National Park, the countryside is quintessentially English, adopting a different character with each season. You'll also find beautiful beaches and a range of historic attractions, from crumbling castles to elegant manor houses. There are plenty of romantic hotels in Hampshire, ranging from secluded, beachside hotels to impressive country estates.
A romantic break ought to be a special one and the romantic hotels in Hampshire are full of character. If you'd prefer something cosy and intimate, hotels such as the Pebble Beach in New Milton are ideal. This clifftop hotel offers luxurious accommodation and the chance to dine al fresco on a veranda overlooking the Solent and the Needles. Pebble Beach is also a licensed wedding venue so, if you're visiting with one eye on the future, it's well worth investigating.
However, if you prefer spacious luxury, there are many larger romantic hotels in the county, such as the Rhinefield House Hotel, the Lainston House Hotel and Stanwell house. As their names suggest, these were once privately-owned houses that have been tastefully converted into extraordinary hotel accommodation. In addition to their sumptuous rooms, each of these romantic hotels offers another vital ingredient to a romantic break: excellent restaurants serving exquisite food. While both the Lainston's and the Rhinefield's restaurants serve everything from breakfast to dinner and afternoon tea, the Lainston's restaurant is particularly noteworthy, having chalked-up three AA rosettes for its spectacular dishes.
If you really want to treat your loved one, a romantic hotel with a spa might be the answer. Hotels such as the Champneys Forest Mere and the Careys Manor & SenSpa boast their own, sublimely serene spas. With a range of relaxing and reinvigorating treatments on offer, you can give your partner that long-overdue pampering - and maybe indulge in a therapy or two, yourself.
Hampshire is a romantic county, just waiting to be explored. Booking a room in a romantic hotel in the area is the perfect way to ensure that your memories of your time away are good ones.
