Lovely manor house and grounds

Posted 29-Jul-2016
Pros: Lovely grounds and the staff were very friendly
Cons: needs updating of rooms
Location: Close for travel to Portsmouth and the New Forest
Rooms could do with updating - TV case prevented easy change of channel / switch on and the room was very small with damage due to use on furniture

Beautiful grounds!

Posted 27-Jul-2016
Pros: Beautiful grounds and location.
Cons: Upgrade the rooms.
Location: N/A - Business trip.
The grounds were stunning and the check in staff were very friendly. I was disappointed with my room as it was in the motel-like block and was not very impressive. The room was very hot, but luckily there was a fan in the wardrobe.

Lovely building; perfect for our requirements.

Posted 26-Jul-2016
We stayed for 2 nights during the Americas Cup world series, (success all round for the sailors, great weather for everyone). We ate in the bar in the evening and had a couple of drinks. Our room was in the new buildings adjacent to the main building. It was a great room; good size, and good shower. The only downside, was the plumbing which we could hear when the neighbouring rooms showered or flushed. Not a huge problem for us but potentially. Otherwise a great stay and would go again.

Reasonable price, would only stay the one night

Posted 18-Jul-2016
The room was small but clean. The bathroom could do with some updating, and although it was clean it looked grubby due to the tired grout, shower head and bath. The shower hose was burst and as a result there was more water shooting from that than the shower head ! However too the hotels credit they said if it couldn't be fixed they would give us a new room. The room was very stuffy at night and they only provide one very soft pillow, however we had just finished a 15 hour drive so we weren't too bothered! Breakfast was the highlight of our stay. Fantastic choice and everything tasted fresh and well cooked. Very reasonable at £10 especially since you can go back as often as you like. Great hotel and price (much cheaper than travel lodge) but I would only stay for the night.

Pros: Main house very nice & lovely grounds
Cons: Update the annexe rooms
Location: Nice village
Lovely well kept grounds, but the accommodation is looking very dated and tired and my room was small by modern day standards. Friendly staff good breakfast choice.

Beautiful manor-like hotel set in lovely surroundi

Posted 28-Jun-2016
Pros: Friendly staff. Lots of parking. Beautiful surroundings, swimming pool and gym.
Location: Set in rural locality 30mins drive from either Southampton using country roads or Portsmouth via M27.
Great check-in, friendly reception staff. Many of the rooms are separate from the main building and reception. My room was a Junior double room which was cabin-like, medium size with bath/shower and comfortable. The central heating radiator didnt seem to work at first but the receptionist advised that it can take half and hour to kick in. Very pleasant gardens and surroundings, and good size swimming pool with jacuzzi and sauna, next to small gym (functional). A pleasant stay.

Beautiful hotel

Posted 27-Jun-2016
Pros: Location, pool and Jacuzzi.. Choice of food for breakfast.
The hotel was beautiful and very elegant, the staff were very pleasant and helpful and knowledgeable on the history of the building. Our stay was in one of the annexes which was small but clean and comfortable, the pool and sauna were great, the breakfast was lovely with lots of choice however I had to use a plate for the fruit and yoghurt as the bowls had all been used and had not been replaced.

gardens were worth the visit

Posted 16-Jun-2016
The hotel location was ok the garden and the main building is stunning. However the rooms are looking tired and in our room the bathroom fan didn't work so got a bit stuffy. We ordered an early start on the Sunday when we left because our flight had been changed , the reception made a note for 7.15 , normal breakfast time that day was 7.30 am. when we arrived the restaurant manager wasn't aware and was a bit upset, so communication in the hotel was not efficient. The staff apologised and were very attentive so all ended well.

Posted 04-Jun-2016
Food was a bit expensive for what u got, bar staff were a bit miserable did not have much clue of drinks or food , but the reception staff were lovely could not do enough for you nothing was too much trouble . Good stay and close to the historic dockyard in Portsmouth which was what we came to see .
