The abundant dining options and waterfront views are top of the list for many visitors to Vesturbær. A stop by Reykjavik Harbour or Landakotskirkja might round out your trip.
Laugardalur is popular for its abundant dining options, and if you're looking for more to see and do, you might think about a trip to Laugardalslaug Geothermal Pool or Laugavegur.
Lovely, small hotel. Rooms modern, stylish, very warm and wonderfully clean. Staff were incredibly helpful and attentive - nothing was too big or small for their kind attention, efficient. Continental breakfast plentiful and fresh, tea and coffee available in small but stylish lounge 24/7.
I want to go back in the summer and will book this hotel again and have no hesitation in recommending it to all my friends.

Lovely hotel, clean and well maintained. Staff were superb! Although there is not a restaurant in the hotel (just an excellent breakfast) there are several restaurants within a hundred metres of the front door. Location is not central but taxis available within a couple of minutes to take you downtown. We chose it for both price and close proximity of the cruise terminal.

This hotel was great value for money - out of the busy city centre but easily connected by bus (about 10-15 mins). Most of the main tours did hotel pickups from here so if you are planning on using day trips, its very practical. Breakfast was excellent.

Even though this is a review for listed hotel, we were actually moved to another hotel which was 105 A Townhouse.
105 A Townhouse was actually in a better location. The room had a kitchenette which had all the necessary equipment to cook any type of meal. The bed was very comfortable and spacious and the toilet and shower facilities were top notch with Icelandic body wash, shampoo and conditioner supplied.
We will definitely try and book this room again when we revisit Reykjavík.

Staff in the hotel were all pleasant and helpful, and rooms were nice and comfortable. I opted not to eat in the restaurant as I thought I'd be pushed for time to have breakfast before some of the organised tours starting at 8am, and generally decided to eat elsewhere in Reykjavik for dinner.

We had a fabulous time here. Room was clean and had everything provided you could possibly need.
Breakfast was amazing- ample for breakfast ans snacks for lunch too! I don’t think we ever managed to finish it on any of the days we stayed!
Check in was seamless with all the info we needed.
Would stay here again without a doubt.

Positives? Too many to mention. Negatives? Only one... the funny water smell, however this is something all residences suffer from in Iceland (due to the geothermal water supply)
The staff were especially helpful, having a garage was very helpful and despite the central location very easy to drive to. Wife and daughter loved it too.
Would stay here again 10/10

Housekeeping always ensured it was well presented with what seemed like a million cushions each time we returned in the evening. Johanna who runs the apartments was the most helpful person ever, she went above and beyond I cannot thank her enough. The apartments were modern, spacious, clean & had everything you need such as cooking facilities which is a must in Iceland how expensive eating out is. A supermarket and bakery is across the road also a pizza takeaway. If you forget anything there is a box in reception to help you out. The huge windows looks over the mountains which is truly spectacular. A little bit out from...

We stayed here Monday to Friday and it was lovely, very clean and comfortable. It had a little kitchen with a fridge, toaster and hob which was amazing as food in Iceland is expensive! It was very central and right next to bus stop 13 one of the main pick up stops for trips - would recommend.

When is the best time to go to Háaleiti?
The best time to go to Háaleiti largely depends on whether you're seeking the Midnight Sun and warmer temperatures or the chance to see the Northern Lights and enjoy winter activities.
For those hoping to experience the Midnight Sun and milder weather, the summer months from June to August are ideal. Days are incredibly long, with daylight extending well into the late evening, offering ample time for sightseeing and outdoor excursions around the Capital Region. Temperatures are generally comfortable, making it pleasant to explore Reykjavík's city centre, which is just a short drive from Háaleiti. This period is great for travellers who want to maximise their daylight hours and enjoy the natural beauty of Iceland without the chill.
If seeing the Northern Lights is a priority, then the darker, colder months from September to March are your best bet. While Háaleiti itself is a residential area, its proximity to Reykjavík means you're well-placed for tours that take you away from city lights to better viewing spots. During these months, you can also enjoy winter activities like ice caving and snowmobiling.
