"Nice hotel, close to Chester town centre."
Stayed for one night whilst visiting Chester for the Christmas market. Staff friendly, efficient and nothing too much trouble. Breakfast was wonderful with choices to suit any palate. Rooms were excellently furnished, with extremely comfortable beds, crisp clean linen. Lovely thick fluffy towels and superbly modern bathroom. Plenty of parking too. Would recommend to anyone and will definitely book again.

"Historic Inn holiday"
Very fine old coaching inn in a beautiful old street in historic Shrewsbury. Hotel needs some updating of the rooms in the modern wings - Windows and plumbing and beds. Breakfast was reasonable - apart from burnt porridge one morning. Tea poor. Only reasonable value for money.

"A hidden gem in Wrexham"
We stayed as a family of 3 on a Friday night. Hotel staff were pleasant on arrival and gave instructions to get to our room. It is fair to say the hotel is very igglety pigglety and instructions involved up, down, around and back on yourself to get the room. It also happened to be the furthest room away in the world, and with a tired 3 year old it wasn't the greatest. Once in the room we found they had prepared the bed for our little one and though dated, the room itself was fine. My only small issue would be that they only provided cups and biscuits for 2 though there were 3 of us. The bathroom was large in size but had seen better days. The window sill obviously hadn't been cleaned in some time and the blind was broken. The rest was absolutely fine. We didn't eat at hotel restaurant and drove into Wrexham which has amazing shopping and eateries. Breakfast was £15 per head at hotel and we couldn't warrant an extra £45 for 3 of us. We would defiantly stay at the hotel again and I know there are planned room upgrades so that will add some extra luxury to a hotel, that in all honesty, was a pleasant change from the usual 'high street' priced places.

"4 Days away."
My wife and I decided at short notice to have a few days away in the Llangollen area. We picked the Bryn Howel. We booked ahead for Sunday dinner as it can be quite busy. It was, a group of 19 were in celebrating an 80th birthday. It was perhaps a bit noisy but, youre only 80 once. The food was excellent. We also had an evening meal on 2 nights and they were good as well. Breakfast was good too, although perhaps a menu would have helped with choice. No need for it to be a guessing game if you want other than full English. In line with a few other reviews, we found the hotel to be a bit dated. Bit of curled wallpaper here and there and some knocks and scratches. And some quite dark areas with all the oak panelling which was no doubt popular when the main building was built a few hundred years ago. Our room was a bit small but adequate. But it was warm. Bryn Howel is ideally situated between Llangollen and Trevor, with the Llangollen canal running right past the hotel to the world heritage site of Pontcysylithe and Telford's aquaduct. We would go back again, probably in summer time so we can explore on foot the canal each way. The hotel staff were very good, no problems at all. Overall Btyn Howel is a nice place, it just wants a bit of extra TLC.

"Great central location."
A lovely town centre pub, within walking distance of the train station (it's a 7 min walk slightly uphill.) Great staff lovely breakfast. It's a town centre pub which is busy so there was noise at night and normal street activity in the morning but that didn't bother me. I would stay there again. Thank you to the staff.

"Lovely night away "
Beautiful B&B, beautiful town... I booked this as a night away for my boyfriend's birthday. The staff were lovely, really helpful, and breakfast was fantastic. Hotel location was perfect, just a short walk to the town centre and only a couple of minutes from the river bank. The bathroom was perhaps a little outdated - from the photos I'd seen on the internet I expected a modern bathroom given that the property has recently been refurbished. This wasn't an issue and isn't a complaint, just thought it's worth a mention. There was plenty of hot water, the bed was firm and comfortable and there were nice homely touches such as 'proper' mugs with the tea and coffee facilities in the room rather than plain old white cups. There's a lovely Spanish restaurant a couple of minutes walk away 'Casa Naranja' which really was fabulous and worth a visit, plenty of 'oldy worldy' type pubs and trendy craft beer places - something for everyone. would definitely recommend Darwin's and stay here again myself!
