Poor condition hotel with super staff

Posted 18-Aug-2017
Pros: The staff and the view from our balcony
Location: Right next to a super beach and pretty active area
The outside looks terrible when we drove up and I dreaded walking in. The staff though were really super and helpful. Our room was meant to be a premier but it was not. The view however was amazing. There were draws missing, the hairdryer had had the plug cut off and the towels were so small it would not have covered a child. We did eat in the Victorian Restaurant and the food was pretty good for the money and again the staff were really good.( We had been given a discount voucher towards our food too) Breakfast was very good. I am sorry I cannot recommend this hotel as everywhere you go it needs some love and care it is a shame because the staff are the only good thing about it and the view..

Only just OK for a stopover before an early tunnel

Posted 17-Aug-2017
Pros: Convenience for tunnel depot.
Cons: Needs updating.
Location: Don't know.
Hotel badly in need of a bit of TLC. A bit tatty around the edges. Bed and pillows rock hard and uncomfortable (I normally like a firm mattress). Not enough towels for all of us and when I requested more after the second time of asking 6 hand towels were delivered so I had to use two for my shower in the morning. As always in hotels, room was too hot but when the window was open the noise of people and music from the pub opposite was too much to be able to get to sleep. The car park was full so we had to pay £7 to park in the harbour one across the road. Was just about OK for our overnight stop.

Outdated for its ratings

Posted 17-Aug-2017
Felt like I got ripped off! It is so outdated that it feels like you're back in the 60's but the poor 60's. Wouldn't go back or recommend to anyone! Not worth the money and its ratings! Which is a real shame, as Folkstone is a lovely town with great scenery....

Time travel

Posted 07-Aug-2017
This hotel is so dated I felt I timetravelled back to the 60's Everything was dated. The room on the website beautiful, so when we walked in to a dated old dirty room, we were obviously not happy. There was dirt/dust everywhere. Hair in bathroom. It made me feel dirty and unclean.

WORST "hotel" ever!

Posted 03-Aug-2017
Pros: view?
Cons: everything, this is just the worst experience!
Location: location is good, nothing else.
The worst so called hotel!!! Avoid avoid avoid. Except for the view nothing was ok. Ruined our time in Folkestone.

close to channel tunnel

Posted 27-Jul-2017
Pros: Close proximity to tunnel
Cons: Training of staff regarding a nice welcome for visitors
Location: Area around hotel is not good. Looks like Folkestone badly needs money for refurbishment.
We used it because it was so close to channel tunnel. It was not a hotel I would use again as it is too large and impersonal. It is dated and it is sorely needing a major revamp. I try hard to say something nice but I struggle to do so.Carpets shabby. Rooms in need of decorating. Little sound proofing in rooms. I most definitely will not return to the hotel

Looks good from the outside now tired inside

Posted 24-Jul-2017
Pros: Location
Cons: A lot
Location: Close to the ferry, if that's your driver fair enough
Arrived late, check in was fine, however from the outside you would expect a modern fairly smart hotel. This is not the case, the building has obviously lacked any investment for some time with tired fittings, (locks on doors all now in different holes/breakfast bar a mass of tin foil to mask inadequate equipment. Staff were friendly enough and did their best but this is not a great place to stay, picked for location (catching the ferry) and on that front it was great, on every other it was lack-lustre at best. Car park also far too small for the hotel so you end up parked accross the road which is far more expensive that the price indicated when you book.

Moody staff, broken bathroom door and no parking spaces after we'd paid for one. On the plus side, room was clean and spacious.
