"A short distance outside Troon. Peaceful country place. Doors quite loud when closing. Small gap on shower door allows some shower spray to wet outside floor. Inside room lock did not work. Overall peaceful stay"

"A beautiful hotel with friendly helpful staff. Food in the restaurant was delicious and presented beautifully Our room was lovely, if a bit small. Unfortunately, we were cold as the weather had turned damp and windy, and the room felt damp. So for our one night stay we didn’t sleep well. Perhaps, in future, a small amount of heat to air the room and bed prior to a stay would be good housekeeping."

"The location is absolutely fabulous, you’re as close to the beach as you could get. The outdoor patio is a wonderful place to just sit and relax with a cup of coffee or a glass of wine. The breakfast offers three choices on top of the serve yourself items like cereal, fruit and croissants. I tried all three options, the traditional Scottish was my favorite, The hotel is dog friendly, and I enjoyed seeing the furry travel companions. There’s a Fish and Chips Take Away place just a 2 minutes walk away , and the hotel itself has a restaurant also"

Lochside House Hotel & Spa

"A great location for this hotel with lovely views from the rooms. The food is excellent, both the dinners and the cooked breakfasts, and staff are friendly and helpful. Just a few tweaks would make things even better: 1. The music in the restaurant and, especially the bar, is too loud and intrusive 2. The pastries at breakfast were stale 3. In both our rooms a handyman was needed as the grab rails in both bathrooms were coming away from the wall and there were parts missing from the shower controls 4. The spa massage treatment was great but changing room facilities weren't so good with inadequate locker space and little room to change. Apart from those minor reservations we would be very happy to return!"

"The place seems to have had the bedrooms upgraded recently. Nice, roomy and comfortable. However, some “smaller details” niggled a bit… The rooms are not very noise proof - snoring on one side, conversations on the other, banging doors, very distracting and sleep preventing. Phone chargers inbuilt into head board did not work. Water pressure poor, affecting wash basin, shower and toilet needing re-flushed. Cooked breakfast not of best quality, and at 9am was not hot on being self-served from hot food holders. Staff really helpful and friendly. We usually use the sister hotel “The Waterside”, decided to try “The Gailes”, but would not return and will go back to The Waterside. Not terrible, pleasant, but the little things were niggly and mounted up - especially as it was a wedding anniversary night away."
