Great Location

Posted 17-Aug-2017
This hotel feels like a motel. Situated just off the A38 and the rooms are in buildings off the main reception building. Our twin room was clean and comfortable and fresh towels, toiletries and refreshments were provided even though we didn't specifically request them on the second day of our two night stay. Breakfast was lovely and there was plenty of choice. There appears to be some construction work being done at the approach to the hotel and when dark this was a little confusing as it wasn't very well lit. The hotel grounds themselves are very well lit. The hotel was perfect as a base for sightseeing and visiting and it was overall a very comfortable and enjoyable stay.

Very surprised

Posted 07-Aug-2017
Pros: The restaurant is very good. staffed by grown-ups. It has good quality food at reasonable prices. There is a good range of food and drink available.
Cons: The biscuits were good. Two more packs per room! The rooms were not over-large but this wasn't a problem as we put suitcases in the wardrobe.
Location: The hotel is close to Powderham Castle and walking and other outdoor pursuits. It is also close enough to the coast to be able to relax and un-wind.
The hotel rooms were clean and had good facilities. A very good and powerful shower. There is a nice kettle with plenty of milk, teabags, coffee and sugar plus biscuits. The beds were comfy and clean.

Good Choice on Way to Cornwall

Posted 06-Jul-2017
Pros: Value for money.
Cons: N/a
Location: Well positioned for people driving to Cornwall. Very nice character pub nearby.
Very pleased we picked Exeter Court Hotel for our overnight stay bound for Cornwall. It was very good value for money considering we just wanted to put our head down for the night. We arrived around 6.30-7.00pm, checked in etc then had our evening meal at a nearby character pub in 'Kenn'. The room was comfortable, the shower room though small was perfect for requirements and had had a recent refit. The breakfast was good and offered in a nice, modern lounge. Though we didn't use the bar facility it looked welcoming and relaxing. No frills, good quality for price and very pleasing. We would recommend it.

Budget hotel, convenient for Exeter and the coast

Posted 22-May-2017 on Hotels
This hotel I would put into the 'Budget' bracket on a par with Travel Lodge and Holiday Inn. We booked the Ashton Suite, which was a comfortable room with an ensuite bathroom and king sized bed. The rooms are situated in a quadrangle and the hotel is single storey. Umbrellas are provided in the room as you do have to walk outside to get to the hotel restaurant and bar. Parking is very conveniently near the block where the room is. Rooms are not sound proof!

Poor

Posted 21-May-2017 on Hotels
I don't know why but a large number of hotels seem unable to keep or serve decent beer . This place has only one draught lager . It was served up in bitter glass . With a combination of no glass widget and the barman not having a clue how to pull a pint it was flat as a pancake . The same guy was on duty at breakfast. The 'continental ' are was covered in spilled cereal . I say continental loosely as was not much choice .

Convenient and pleasant hotel

Posted 20-May-2017
Pros: Location, accessibility, staff and facilities. Lovely fish tank in the restaurant.
Cons: I had no complaints, but if anything I found the beds a little too soft and the room small for anyone intending to spend time there.
Location: Easy access from main route south, close to Exeter, not far from Torquay. Need transport to get to places of interest and no walks from the hotel.
I would recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a short stay or pit stop on the way further south. Very convenient just off the A38 south of Exeter, about 15 minutes from the airport. Good parking, a petrol station just next door. Rooms all on the ground floor, all non-smoking. The staff are pleasant and helpful, and it has its own bar and restaurant serving meals from locally sourced ingredients.
