"Nice hotel, only complaint was the air conditioning unit was noisy in the room."

"Well, the location is very good overlooking the lakes. However, the rooms and staff are a mess. Starting with the room, the shower screen was broken and flooded the floor, the safe had no batteries, the headboard was hanging off the wall, the balcony was filthy and the furniture falling apart. I tried calling housekeeping and reception to report the problems but no answer after 15 minutes on each. I finally gave up and went down to reception to report the problems, no action taken despite reminding a further 2 times. Room not made up on second day, reported this again and was told it would it would be made up immediately. Never was. The decking around the outside of the hotel was nice but needs stinging nettles and weeds removing that are growing through. Paid £80 for a few hours in the spa only to find it full of kids. Don’t get me wrong, kids enjoy a pool but having paid £80 for my wife and I it was less than relaxing. On the plus side the food was good, especially the steaks with peppercorn sauce. All in all rather disappointing as the place could have been so much better."

"I always like to start with the positive and that was the staff being very helpful and the bed being very comfortable. Sadly the room was in a sad condition. Needs some tlc. Torn wallpaper, hole in wall, hole in door, dusty lights, no mattress protector, duvet torn, duvet cover non closing so duvet came out, dirty tea spoon, stained carpet and absolutely no basics like a glass for water, hairdryer, shower gel or tissues. The chairs were small and uncomfortable if you wanted to watch TV. In general it's not a fair price for a decent room as the standard is so low."

"We stayed one night on our way to Cornwall, it was really nice place to break the journey. We had our dog with us and he was made very welcome with his own bag of treats while we enjoyed the classic Doubletree cookie! We arrived in time to eat at the bistro in the evening and the food was good. The bed was comfortable enough and the shower was decent. Breakfast quality was really good and they were still bringing out fresh cooked food close to 11am. The only negative was the coffee from the machine - so bitter it was undrinkable. We would definitely stay again."

"I stay here frequently due to the ideal location for my place of work, since the hotel changed hands several years ago it hasnt been the same, its very poorly staffed, often only one or two staff in at any one time, having to deal with check-in, the bar and any resturant needs. I have stayed in numerous rooms and all seem to have no or little regular maintenance especiall the showers where a good de-scale of the heads, and repairs to the controls are neccessary. Most of the staff are very helpful however I feel the overall management of this hotel is the primary cause of the issue mentioned."
