Massive comfortable room near to everything

Posted 03-May-2016
Pros: Extremely friendly staff even at 4am when we checked in as well as the location being perfect.
We were pleasantly surprised by the size of the room, arriving at 4am we were greeted by extremely friendly staff who checked us in and showed us to our room. The beds were comfortable and it is hard to find a fault with the room.

Budget hotel close to the beach and town centre

Posted 15-Apr-2016
Pros: The cleanliness of the linen and towels
Cons: Reduce the temperature throughout the hotel particularly at night and provide fans.
Location: Location was good, five minute walk to the beach and approximately 10 minutes walk to the town centre.. Only there for the night, visiting Durdle Door
We stayed here for one night. Cheap price, room basii, a little tired and in need of updating but clean and comfortable. It was an exceptionally warm day for April - 17 degrees but the heating was on in the hotel and there was no thermostatic control in the room to enable us to switch it off. We opened the windows fully and drew the curtains to see if we could cool the room down. Tried a cool shower but the effects didn't last long. Unfortunately, I wasn't feeling too wel so, after eating out, came straight back to the hotel to go to bed. It was like walking into the desert and the heating stayed on all night. I needed a drink of water but the water that came out of the cold tap was lukewarm and not particularly nice so had to send my husband to the bar to buy a bottle of water which was only small and cost £2. I did manage to sleep and quite comfortably. We couldn't wait to leave in the morning as we just wanted some cool, fresh air. There was a coach party of OAP's staying there which might explain why the heating was cranked up! Even in the depths of winter, we do not keep our heating on all night. All in all, you get what you pay for and would have given a slightly higher rating had I not been so unbearably hot. We also had to pay £3 to park in the car park.

A good budget hotel

Posted 05-Apr-2016
Pros: The staff were very friendly and helpful. Self service dinner so you chose your own portion size. The room was clean, although too warm for me!
Cons: Better heat regulation in the rooms would be nice, although the windows do open so not really a problem. Wifi in the rooms would be nice.
Location: Town centre only a few minutes away, and the bus to Poole provides a nice day trip.
At £24 a night for a double room there is nothing to complain about. Even if one was to eat breakfast and dinner there as well it would still only come to £35 per person a night. Every website that had this hotel listed stated quite clearly that parking was £3 a night and that wifi was only available in communal areas, not in the rooms. Also the price of breakfast (£7.50) and dinner (£12.50) was clearly stated. Happy hour in the hotel bar in the evenings brought the price of a pint down to £2.30 and there was live entertainment available in the bar. Not to everyone's taste, but the hotel is only a few minutes walk from the town centre so no need to stay in the hotel bar if you want something more lively.

One night stop over.

Posted 01-Mar-2016 on Hotels
Hotel had just reopened on my day of arrival. Some refurbishment has been carried out (carpets, paint etc.) furnishings still look original. Generally ok. Bit of a surprise on arrival when I was charged for parking (this wasn't on the website!) However, I paid a ridiculously low rate for this hotel so all can be forgiven. It was worth much more and I have paid MUCH more for hotels of significantly lower standards than this one. All in all a good budget hotel that was clean, comfortable, tidy, everything worked and I would definitely stay here again. Good value for money. Didn't eat in the hotel so can't comment on the food.

Ok, basic but comfortable.

Second time we have stayed at the Heathlands. Very good price but room was a little dated and shabby. Comfortable and spacious room but had lots of cobwebs in the corners of the ceilings. Parking is now charged which wasn't advertised clearly at the time.

Don't Stay Here, Ever

Posted 17-Feb-2016 on Hotels
When I arrived, the Heathlands Hotel was closed. I wasn't informed about this before hand. Why take the booking if the hotel was closed? I was told that I had been moved to the Brittania Hotel instead. The double room we were put in was the size of a single room, the window was broken and wouldn't close, the heating didn't work (it was 36 F temperature outside), only one light worked (a bedside lamp), there was no hot water and there was some sort of compressor/exhaust machine making a lot of noise outside. I complained, and was moved to another room that wasn't much better, it was still freezing cold. I was with a party of relatives, and we occupied 4 rooms in total. They were all just as bad. In 50 years of staying at hotels, this is the worst one I have ever stayed at.

I should have gone to Ibiza if I wanted to share the hotel with part animals, very disappointed, I think the 1st room I was given was an old cupboard with a bed thrown in, I booked into another hotel for the remaining 2 nights which was a lot better and only £4 a night more, and no one dose portable TVs any more.
