An awful experience

We arrived at the Heathlands Hotel on foot from the railway station, only to be told that there was no room available for us, and we had been transferred to another hotel which was much further out of the town centre. I had selected this hotel because of the location, and would have cancelled if I had known about this. The receptionist was very off hand and made no apology for the fact that no email had been sent in advance to let us know. When we got to the alternative hotel, our room was up a dirty concrete back staircase, with empty beer bottles littering the window sills. The room was so hot that we were unable to sleep, and the breakfast was of very poor quality. The weekend which had looked forward to was ruined.
