"Lovely location and beautiful old property. Because of the age of the property there is no air conditioning which can mean the bedroom can get quite warm, plenty of windows to throw open if it does. The breakfast choice was good and it was delicious, we didn’t get to eat in any other time but judging ..."
"Fantastic location at a very reasonable price.
The building is very "old world," which means some tight corners, odd ups-and-downs, and no elevator. But that quirky charm is matched with attractive modern furnishings and finishes. I chose the tiniest single room in the place, and although I made it a tight squeeze with too much luggage, the room itself was well-appointed, clean, and comfortable. (The en suite bathroom was especially nice, and not small at all.)
The staff were friendly and helpful, and no request from me ever seemed like an inconvenience or a problem. I was able to leave my bags at reception after checking out so I could keep exploring the city on my last day.
The Continental breakfast costs extra, but I'm glad I took advantage of it. You fill out your order on a card that you hang outside your door by 1am the night before, indicating what time you'd like to eat. You can have the meal delivered to your room or enjoy it in a common breakfast area. (I opted for the latter, so I didn't have to clear space on the desk in my room.) The food is served in rather adorable little wicker picnic baskets, with compartments for all the dishes and cutlery.
The hotel is a ten-minute walk from the rail station, and just a three-minute walk from the Gloucester Green bus station (with direct buses to and from Heathrow and Gatwick airports). It's located on a lovely pedestrian-only street right in the city centre.
Will definitely stay again!"
