Novotel Nottingham Derby

10/10 Excellent

"I was very pleasantly surprised by this Novotel hotel. I had expected it to be a bit down market, but it was far from it. The location is great, less than a minute off the M1 with no traffic noise. Parking was free with ample space. The hotel was clean and although in a 70s looking building the interior was modern and well maintained. The reception staff were all super helpful and my room was spacious, very clean with a comfortable bed and air con/heating that worked! The shower was spacious, hot and powerful and there was a separate toilet area. Breakfast was excellent. As I said I was very pleasantly surprised and impressed and would have no hesitation in staying here again. Well done, all at Novotel Nottingham/Derby. 👏👏"

"Enjoyed a stay for 2 nights in this hotel. The room was clean and bright, the staff were friendly. The breakfast was good with the usual range of food available. We stayed on 2 of the hottest days of the year, so the pool provided a welcome cool down. I chose a superior room and was glad I had, as there was enough room for us including the dog and 2 windows to try & let some air through. The bathroom was a bit of a challenge having the sun all day and no opening window but am sure on a day that wasn’t 32 degrees this would not be a problem."

"Location is great for us. We stayed in Room 3 in the courtyard as we had a small dog with us and they are not allowed in the Main Hotel rooms. We have stayed in this room before - its an excellent size but on the first floor. It seems to have been modernised from when we were last there which was nice. We didn't have breakfast or evening meal there as it is "hotel prices". Within walking distance of the hotel is one of the best pubs in Derbyshire - The Hollybush Inn - great beer and grub."

"We had an accessible room with twin beds and a wet room shower. It was lovely and clean. I am never sure why the accessibility bathrooms are never quite right in their design. Whilst there was a shaver socket, there was no shelf near the sink to put things on. The area that had space had the towels place there but there was not enough protection from the shower curtain to stop water getting to that area until I altered the way the shower curtain was hung to keep the towels dry and our wash bags but that then left the floor by the sink getting splashed ! The actual sink was very small and set at a height for wheelchair use but you’d have trouble getting a wheelchair in there. The bathroom needed to meet the needs of my partner which the shower seat provided did but it was difficult for me, his carer, to wash at such a small low sink ! Mirror did not have condensation clearing finish which was disappointing! It was fine for a one night stop over but not for a longer stay. We enjoyed the menu choice in the evening and the food was tasty and served well. Breakfast was the same, very helpful staff and a good selection. "

Gulliver's Resort Matlock Bath

"We really enjoyed the whole stay. The scenery and set up is beautiful. Our room was lovely and bedding clean. Staff were amazing. Very friendly. The only issue we had was the food. We have a meal in the restaurant and it was £16 for a microwave curry. Drinks expensive and breakfast basic. This is the only thing to let it down. However there is plenty of food options in Matlock Bath itself."
