"Excellent in every way!"
Just loved this hotel. It was easy to find in beautiful surroundings. The Receptionist was welcoming and efficient. We had the best cream tea when the waitress presented us with a specialist tea box with an array of teas in delicate jars (not in bags) and freshly baked scones. Our room in the cottages was warm and cosy with every amenity, comfy beds, classy toiletries and fresh (yes fresh) milk for our beverages. Dinner in the brasserie was excellent with an impressive wine list. The breakfast table was the best I have seen in a long time and again the breakfast staff were friendly and helpful and impressed us with their obvious love of the hotel. Nothing was ever too much trouble for all the staff. Upon check-out, the Receptionist (a different one) took time to recommend local places of interest. Alll in all a lovely hotel experience and one which I would like to repeat again and again.

"Lovely period hotel set in rolling countryside"
We booked a suite, in the main part of the building. There is a meandering extension for standard rooms. The suite was well decorated, comfortable and spacious. The room was a little stuffy, one of the drawbacks of a safety conscious age where we daren't let someone open a window. The lack of air-conditioning wasn't an issue in this countryside setting, even though the weather was quite warm. The benefit of not being frozen or deafened during the night meant we had one of the best night's sleep ever in a hotel. The hotel is a former priory and set in the midst of glorious rolling countryside that looks like it has had the touch of a Capability Brown. The surrounding landscape is now a well-manicured golf course, but the hotel isn't too "golfy". The pool looked inviting, although we slept too well to enjoy it. I'm not sure about access through a bar to get to the changing area. The evening meal was to a high quality with a good choice of wine to compliment the food. The cooked breakfast was excellent. Finally I need to say a word about the staff. From the receptionist right through to the cleaner you passed on the stairs they were all approachable, smiley and greeted you with eye contact. To me this is the defining measure of a good hotel and means so much more than ticking boxes for air-con and lifts that an old hotel struggles to satisfy. I've stayed in 5-star hotels that could learn lot from the staff in this place.

"Lovely Hotel in a great location"
Booked one of the hotels suits as soon as you walked in you could tell the room had recently been painted due to the smell of paint and also tape to a couple of the lights. There was also lots of dust everywhere which must of been there for a while as was not just a small amount either also the window would not close properly so lucky had secondary glazing. Couldn't have the air conditioning on due to the loud noise every time you turned it on. But saying that majority of the hotel is really lovely and clean. Not worth the amount of money paid due to the amount of issues with the room.

"A great location for the Peak District"
A fantastic place to stay if you are planning visiting the Peak District. The building has great character, a lovely room and beautiful garden. The food was excellent and the full English breakfast sets you up for the day. I will definitely consider a visit back in the near future.

"Friendly Hosts Great Food"
We recieved a great welcome at this very friendly Inn. Our room was comfortable and full of character. They had been extremely busy at lunch time but the chef came out to speak to us and cooked us an evening meal of our choice which was delicious! The breakfast was ample and tasty. We ate in a beautiful panneled room full of interesting things. Maybe not to everybodys taste but we loved it. Do not stay here if your taste leans towards the corporate!

"Small but clean"
A little bit disappointed with the accommodation as the room was small but very clean. The bathroom was separate, the other side of the staircase which meant that as the breakfast room was next to the room on the other side, other visitors could bump into you when they came down for breakfast and you might be in your dressing gown. One of the other rooms had a bathroom en suite but the other bedroom had a separate bathroom too. There were two other B&Bs in the village so I do not know what they were like, although one of them had four rooms with en suite bathrooms. The breakfast was very good and freshly cooked.

"Great b&b for relaxing and walking"
This was a lovely place to stay in a very quiet, small village with friendly hosts; Chris & Jane. Perfect location for short or long walks without having to get in the car. The veggie breakfast was lovely with lots of continental options! Both of us are meat eaters but the veggie sausages were really nice! Would definitely recommend!
