Wonderful! A most beautiful Georgian home in a fantastic location, with wonderful hosts and a great breakfast (and slice of banana cake and fruit cake!). We had such a lovely weekend and Michael and Dawn really went the extra mile in making sure we did! We will definitely be back!

If you plan on spending your time sightseeing, or shopping, staying close to Middlesbrough or Stockton-on-Tees may be your best option. Couples who prefer a slower pace should also consider hotels in Hartlepool or Guisborough. You'll find spa hotels are a popular choice with couples enjoying a romantic break, with facilities including a spa, massage treatment rooms, sauna, indoor pool and fitness centre.

Days Out for Two in Cleveland

After a delicious breakfast at your hotel - some even offer a rooftop terrace where you can dine outside - what could be more romantic than a day of learning to surf together? Saltburn Surf School provides lessons for beginners and the surf here is renowned as some of the best outside Cornwall. For couples who prefer a more relaxing day out, a stroll around Gisborough Priory, founded in 1119, followed by a day trip to Ormesby Hall, is a delightful way to spend a sunny day. Make sure you don't miss the opportunity to sample a 'Lemon Top', a scoop of dairy ice cream topped with lemon sorbet - it's a local speciality in Redcar.
