Wonderful accommodation in the Heart of Old Whitby On arrival we pleasantly greeted. The room had a lovely seaside feel to it and was clean and the decor and fittings are lovely. We could see the cobbled streets of Old Whitby from the window.

Pocket Guide: Family Friendly Hotels in Cleveland

Cleveland in the North-East of England is a popular spot for family holidays, particularly during the summer months, when its sandy beaches are bustling with character. If you're looking for affordable accommodation for your family, you'll find everything from chain hotels in Middlesbrough and Stockton-on-Tees, to B&Bs in Yarm and Saltburn-by-the-Sea.

Affordable Family-Friendly Hotels in Cleveland

Cleveland's hotels offer a wealth of amenities designed to make your family holiday more relaxing. Most hotels and B&Bs offer infant beds or cribs on request and are happy to provide breakfast, which is complimentary in some chain and independent hotels. Extras such as laundry facilities and free WiFi are also on offer at some hotels in the larger towns such as Middlesbrough, ideal for families who have children of all ages. You'll find that many hotels also offer free self-parking, so you can load up the car with the family's luggage without worrying about finding a space.

Cleveland Attractions for Family Days Out

Whatever your family enjoy doing, you'll find something to keep them amused in Cleveland. On sunny days, the beaches of Redcar and Saltburn-by-Sea are a popular choice with families - the latter is home to a renowned surf school and some great safe breaks for 'kooks' and experienced surfers! For kids who love nature, The Owl Centre at Kirkleatham (where you'll also find meerkats) and Butterfly World at Preston Park are both perfect ways to spend an afternoon. If you’re looking for something a little more active, why not ask your hotel to pack you a picnic lunch and head for Roseberry Topping? This hill is one of the most distinctive landmarks in Cleveland and the 360-degree views of the North York Moors from the top are simply stunning!

Amenities for All the Family at Cleveland Hotels

After a long day of shopping, sightseeing or sports, you'll find that hotels here offer all the amenities you could need for a comfortable stay. Larger chain hotels have their own restaurant and bar, so you can enjoy a family meal in relaxed surroundings. If you would rather eat late on, or from the comfort of your own room, most hotels also offer room service. There are hotels here to suit all budgets, from tiny three-star B&Bs to four-star chain hotels with leisure facilities.
