Relaxing Week Away
We booked the week away at the last minute, and had a wonderful relaxing week staying at the Coach House. Fiona and Matthew were great hosts, and were really hospitable. Nothing was to much for them to ensure we had a perfect stay. Our two dogs were also made to feel at home, which was great. The area is great for walking and we especially loved the canal and picturesque walks. Great local pubs serving good food, There are lots of pretty villages to visit and we would recommend Castle Combe, Bradford upon Avon and Lacock. We would love to visit again. Jeanne and Kev

Wonderful stay

Perfect family break
Lovely property with plenty to do on site - tennis, swimming, table tennis, pool table and lots of nice walks (we spotted rabbits, pheasant, hare, deer, birds of prey). Picturesque villages within 20 min drive, Bath 40 mins away. We were spoilt for things to do. Relaxed, accommodating hosts. Perfect holiday - thank you!

Peaceful!
We loved this property, we stayed for 3 nights, family of 4 and our dog (kids aged 11 and 13), the grounds are outstanding, such a beautiful surrounding, kids braved the pool which they loved and spent much time on the tennis court or playing pool! The beds were super comfortable, shower and bath really great. Adult dressing gowns a great little touch and a bottle of Prosecco in the fridge! The master bedroom is huge. The owner, Fiona, was away but kept checking on us via message. We ate at the local pub the Westbrooke which was outstanding food and service at a great price. We would 100% stay here again.

Excellent - ticked all the boxes!
Would highly recommend staying at The Coach House - it really did exceed our expectations. 5* all round! The property was perfect, and made all the better by the grounds it is situated upon, and the beauty of the surrounding countryside. The hosts were more than accommodating - we thoroughly enjoyed hearing of the property history and the story of how it became a holiday let. We were a group of friends, plus two dogs, all of which had a lovely time. Long walks on the doorstep, a games room & tennis court for fun, cosy lounge and huge bath to relax in… something for everyone! We will certainly be recommending to others and will definitely come back for a return visit! Thank you Dodson Family :-)

Beautiful, tranquil setting.

Delightful Stay
It is as advertised, a wonderful home out in the English countryside. The host was very kind, even jumped our car when it wouldn't start, while they have an awesomely great dog puttering about. Recommend. Note: We ate twice at the nearby pub, which had both classic pub and vegan meals.

Perfect family break

Beautiful inside and out!
Wonderful cottage on beautiful property in the country. Hosts were kind, welcoming and helpful. The home is even more lovely than the photos. Beautiful, comfortable and cozy- with high quality bedding and baths. Well equipped kitchen for cooking plus pubs and restaurants nearby. We visited Stonehenge on our drive there from London and enjoyed easy day trips to Bath and Lacock. Walks and tennis on the property were delightful. Hope to return sometime in warmer months to enjoy the pool. Easy drive to Heathrow (after getting used to driving on narrow roads on the left).😊. Wonderful visit for our family of 5.

Rediscovering historic England
Lovely house and grounds, tucked away in rural Wiltshire. Enjoy the night sky. Charming owners make sure everything is perfect. Great Indian takeaway or dinner out nearby. Wonderful walks in Avebury, Lacock, Bath and don’t miss the flight of locks in at Caen Hill in Devises.

Amazing family holiday in unbeatable Wiltshire location
Our family of four had a wonderful stay at the Coach House, which is even more lovely (and larger) than the photos make out. We greatly enjoyed the heated pool despite the chilly August temperatures - Mingulay was an attentive lifeguard! We also visited with the sheep and chickens when we weren’t off on trips out to any of the MANY nearby attractions - a perfect location for seeing so much of what Wiltshire has to offer. The house was immaculate and very comfortable with everything we needed. Thank you so much for a wonderful holiday - we would love to come back again soon!

Peaceful getaway….
In short, there wasn’t anything that we didn’t like about this place ! Friendly owners, great facilities and comfy beds….what more could you ask for ! The tennis court, games room and outdoor pool were all a huge hit and our dog loved the company of top pool attendant Mingulay (the owners fabulous border collie !) We also enjoyed feeding the pigs everyday and seeing the sheep and hens within the grounds. Thank you Fiona and Matthew, we definitely plan on returning in the future !

Idyllic
We’ve just got back from 3 nights at the coach house. The photos don’t do it justice at all. Lovely owners, great house, beautiful grounds and a lovely, clean pool. Mingulay took her role as pool lifeguard very seriously and was great company for our pooch. It was just the relaxed break we needed. Thank you Fiona. We hope you also enjoyed your break away.

Fantastic Stay
Wonderful property, felt at home there. Lovely hosts. So much to do around there. Bowood House, Longleat, Stonehenge were our favourites. My toddler loved the pool and the dogs. Will definitely be staying again.

The Magnificent Coach House
We stayed for 4 nights, the property itself is full of charm and isolated from the main house with it's own ample outdoor space. The pool area is absolutely beautiful and we spent many a happy hour both in and out of the pool. The whole property and lands surrounding are stunning and you really are well out of the way from the hustle and bustle of daily life, a very remote and fantastically rustic location. We really couldn't endorse The Coach House enough to be frank, you would be hard pushed to be disappointed.

Lovely country side stay!
If you’re looking for a peaceful place to relax, that’s it! The property provides all you need to relax. The coach house makes you feel at home. Tennis court in excellent condition. Parts of the property are outdated, but nature, pool, green, kindness of owners overcomes it all!

A wonderful week in Wiltshire
We had a fantastic time at this property in Wiltshire. The hosts made us very welcome, the cottage had everything we would need and was extremely comfortable. The kids loved the pool. We loved picking lettuce from the vegetable garden for our salad lunches, and relaxing with a gin and tonic in the evenings. The surrounding area is beautiful, lots of walks, close to great places like Lacock and Avebury, tonnes of old pubs to enjoy a beer. Although many places are shut at the moment because of Covid-19, it didn't detract from our enjoyment as there are a few places doing take out food and restaurants and pubs with beer gardens serving food outside if that is preferred. If you are looking for a quiet and outdoorsy experience, this is the place for you!

Everything we needed, and more!
The 2-bed (+separate study/day room) Coach House is excellent - clean, full of character, dishwasher in the fully-equipped open plan kitchen-diner-living room, and access to a washing machine. The property is in the grounds of The Old Vicarage, surrounded by fields of sheep, pigs, and chickens - life in the country! Hosts are brilliant - always helpful and full of advice on what to do locally. Supermarkets (M&S, Sainsbury’s) are a 5-mile drive away. Local shops are closer, but still a good walk.

The Coach House with the mostest!
We had a wonderful break at the Coach House and couldn't have asked for a better place to relax and unwind. The rooms are comfortable and the property is warm and cosy. In the summer this must be even better with the outdoor pool and the wonderful grounds. Will definitely be coming back to stay here!

Refreshing break in the countryside
The Coach House is a delightful property, in the heart of the Wiltshire countryside. Located in the very quiet, yet well connected village of Chittoe, the local area has some lovely walks. The Coach House has a lovely large and open living area, which incorporates the kitchen, dining and lounge areas. The wood-burner was one of our main selection criteria, and it did not disappoint. Lovely warm evenings were spent chatting and relaxing. The bedrooms upstairs were spacious and well presented, while the en-suite bathrooms were clean and well-equipped. Our hosts were very welcoming, and readily made suggestions for local amenities and attractions. Overall,we enjoyed a very relaxing break in Chittoe at The Coach House.

Beautiful and Cosy !
Thankyou so much for having us ! I can’t say enough how beautiful, comfortable, welcoming and perfect the cottage was. Fiona and her husband were so welcoming and helpful and really encouraged us to feel at home. We bought our 2 dogs and took them for some lovely walks around the property. I can’t not mention that the beds were like sleeping on clouds !! We really hope to visit again in the future.

Quintessentially English and Perfect
We can't recommend The Coach House strongly enough. Despite reading the many 5 star reviews from those who had stayed previously, I was still skeptical but didn't need to be! From before our arrival to our departure four weeks later, both Fiona and Matthew were the perfect hosts. The property was just as described. The location was ideal, having the feeling of being remote yet within easy reach of everywhere you would want to be, including some fantastic locations within just a few miles. Our two girls (aged 6 & 9) loved all the Coach House had to offer. They enjoyed running around the extensive grounds, swimming in the pool, playing tennis, dog walks (the owners' dogs would often accompany us), and even hurding sheep. They generally loved having the freedom that the Coach House afforded them. Nothing was ever too much hassle for Fiona; indeed, she continually went out of her way to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. We have now bought a house locally and look forward to a lasting friendship with both Fiona and Matthew. If you're looking for a quintessentially English property in the Wiltshire countryside, the Coach House is a MUST.

Best kept secret
Wow. The location, the cottage, the grounds, the owners....It’s a truly wonderful place and experience. We arrived knowing the owners were on holiday until part way through our week, but they had planned our interaction well with their house sitters so no questions went unanswered. We were greeted with home made jam and a bottle of wine too. The cottage has been lovingly and exquisitely refurbished/extended and it’s a lovely place to relax (not to mention the wonderful bath). There are some serious grounds to explore here which are great for kids and adults alike. The owners are very dog friendly and were keen to make whatever provisions they could for us (eg fencing in a small orchard for our dog to use at night whose recall is not great). There are caravans in the neighbouring field within the property and located in such a way you can choose to interact with them or not at all, your choice entirely. The pool is wonderful with a huge pool house containing a pool table, boxing station, overflowing shelves of books, swim paraphenalia for kids, darts, tennis rackets and balls for the tennis court, and a table tennis table by the pool. Dog walking options are extensive from a single enclosed field to local walks through farmers fields. There’s use of a washing machine and line and you have your own gravelled patio with gas BBQ, table chairs and recliners and a grass garden too. Parking is ample and there’s a wonderful view from the top of the small hill as you enter the grounds. This place is what childhood dreams are made of and ‘what a childhood’ the family’s now grown 5 children must have had here!! There space for ball games galore as well and the driveway is concrete for scooters /bikes. We bought some delicious local honey from a neighbouring farm and everyone you pass had a smile and a wave. Bedding and towels are well catered for as were toilet rolls, kitchen towel and washing up Liquid. There are scales, electric whisk and a plethora of utensils and dishes should you wish to cook/bake. There were also fresh wildflowers in every single room when we arrived. I really could not fault this property and the owners. Thank you so much for a wonderful holiday. We can’t wait to return!

A wonderful week

Five Stars is not enough!
Fiona is the consummate host and the Coach House is a dream to stay in. The entire property is stunning and we loved every minute we spent there. We were lucky to have some sunny days and enjoyed relaxing with the big door in the living room open to the courtyard. Our 2 year old daughter loved the “puppies” and they were ever so patient with her. We hope our next visit won’t be many years from now and that we can stay longer. ❤️

Superb in every way
Wonderful Victorian house tastefully updated by the helpful and engaging owners who live nearby on the same property, which once was a major vicarage. Well located for visiting Bath, Avebury, Stonehenge, the fascinating museum of photography at the entrance to Lacock Abbey, the Bowood house, and Woodland gardens (which are open from mid April to mid June only). Lovely house in a quaint setting
We stayed at the Coach House over the Easter weekend. We had a lovely time. The house was tastefully refurbished - plenty of sandstone, wood and antiques. Set next to the main house, it has it's own private outdoor space; great for eating out, set in plenty of open space. Our hosts were very kind and attentive. 2 very friendly dogs were great fun for our son to play with. Highly recommended.

Unusual property in nice area
The Coach House is an interesting building, sympathetically renovated and set in lots of countryside, but within easy reach of towns like Devizes and Melksham. The dog enjoyed it, especially the multitude of pheasants on the local walks.

Very friendly and helpful hosts. A nicely decorated, comfortable cottage in idyllic setting. The cottage has all the amenities you need and all the rooms are a good size. Set in a lovely garden for kids and pets to run around in - plus pool and games room for entertainment. Ideal for relaxing break.

Stunning cottage stunning location perfect hosts
An amazing location, waking up to the sun rising over King’s Play couldn’t be better. The coach house is beautiful, with all the comforts you could want,especially comfortable beds, slept really well. Kitchen fitted and equipped well, amazing walk in shower and a truly luxurious bath. Really enjoyed the swimming pool, incredible to be able to swim outside in October. Tennis courts an added treat. Fiona and Mathew are generous, helpful, kind and truly want their guests to enjoy their stay. Perfect location for visiting Bath, Lacock and Castle Coombe. Couldn’t have enjoyed our stay more and would unreservably recommend, thank you.

Beautiful coach house and location, with wonderful hosts
The Coach House is beautifully decorated and spacious, in a lovely setting, looking out to the Marlborough Downs. Our hosts couldn't have been more hospitable and accommodating. We loved our time there and couldn't recommend The Coach House more highly.

Lovely stay in gorgeous countryside setting
We spent a wonderful relaxing week’s stay at the coach house. Super comfy beds and lovely grounds and fields to walk in. It worked very well for our two dogs and also a 9month old. We loved Mingulay, Santa and also the piggies!! We swam in the pool, temperature was perfect, such a treat.Farm shop is excellent and also the George and Dragon in nearby Rowde, it serves fabulous food with friendly, efficient service. The house is well placed for visiting Bath, Bradford on Avon, Stonehenge. There is also an OKA warehouse and Graham & Green in nearby Chippenham, should you fancy doing some shopping!! Thank you to Fiona for making us so welcome.

Perfect setting and excellent location.
We had a wonderful stay at the coach house. The accommodation is great and Fiona and Matthew were brilliant hosts and very accommodating. A perfect location and the dogs had a wonderful time racing round all the fields.

Lovely house, great location with lovely grounds and views - would recommend
Just returned from spending a week here and had a really lovely time. House was lovely , clean , very well decorated and comfortable and well equipped for everything we needed. The owners were extremely accommodating and couldn't do enough for us. The kids loved the pool and grounds - lots of space to play and plenty to do ( games room , tennis ) . Great location , quiet and with lovely views but also good location for exploring surrounding areas . Would definitely go back !

Excellent communications from Fiona. Had a really enjoyable weekend break at The Coach House which was clean, comfortable & beautifully furnished .. Lovely peaceful location within easy reach of Lacock & Avebury UNESCO World Heritage Site. Great walking in the area! Recommended.

A great holiday. Just what we needed.

Perfect way to relax and unwind
Beautiful,relaxing and a bit of luxury! Could not recommend this place enough. We wil def be returning. Loved the views, the pool, the tennis and just the piece and quiet. We were Looked after very well but left to enjoy the accommodation and it's facilities in private. They get the balance just perfect. Many thanks for a delightful stay.

Charming, comfortable English idyll
Coming from Australia, and joining with family from the US, the Coachouse answered all of our ideas of the quintessential English house set in the most beautiful English countryside. The house was roomy, well appointed and comfortable (especially the beds), and the hosts, Fiona and Matthew, were just so accommodating...nothing we asked was too much trouble! The location too was stunning...green fields, lovely gardens, swimming pool, tennis court, the list goes on, and all so close to English landmarks such as Bath, the White Horse, the village of Laycock and innumerable classic English pubs. We really couldn't have asked for more.
