Nice hotel in perfect city centre location

Posted 08-Aug-2017
Pros: Car parking and ease of driving to the hotel as backs onto the main road system, friendly staff and perfect location
Cons: Room was ok but ready for a refresh, small TV for room nowadays and the TV reception kept failing and plus horrid shower curtain in bathroom. a no-no.
Location: City walls, racecourse, pubs and restaurants and North Wales
We stayed here for three nights for a city break and a visit to North Wales. Hotel is perfectly located in the city centre but still has excellent car parking facilities by using the adjoining Grovesnor Shopping Centre. Couldn't be more central. Room was ok small but ok, internal doors very light and no soft close suppressor when shutting so could hear people accidentally slamming these all night. Bathroom getting dated, shower curtain was looking a bit grubby on the generally wet areas and no soft close on the toilet. Would expect better for a 5 star. Drinks of course expensive as was the optional extra breakfast but being in the city you could get a great breakfast and drinks within a couple of minutes walk. All in all a 4 out of 5 but would definitely use if returning to Chester

Central location

Finding the hotel was a bit of a challenge as it is in a pedestrian area and the sat nav sent us around in circles.. the local people were very friendly in helping though. Great reception, valet parking, registration all good. The room was comfortable and clean. Location ideal for walking the city. An excellent stay.

lovely hotel

Posted 02-Aug-2017
Pros: Seen it many times when visiting Chester.
Cons: Breakfast service.
Location: Chester is a lovely city with a lot of history.
Fantastic welcome, lovely room, very dark and quiet at night. Excellent service by all but the breakfast waiter, who was extremely rude and unaccomodating. We spoke to the duty manager who dealt with the issue, however we came away having had no breakfast. Very disappointing when we had had such a pleasant stay.

Beautiful room, shame about restaurant and bar...

Posted 25-Jul-2017
Pros: Friendly and helpful staff
Cons: Eating areas. Bar area. Parking.
Our bedroom (Room 144) was all we could have hoped for - lovely bedding, huge bed and supersoft towels. One slight criticism is that the tv is hidden when the door into the lobby area is open - would be better to switch it to the side of the room next to the window. Main disappointment with what would otherwise be a truly excellent hotel is the bar and restaurant areas. There was no "lounge" type bar area - we had to sit in the Brasserie at dining tables and chairs at 10pm on a Sunday night - Really?!!! And I have never before been in a hotel of this standard where a cooked breakfast is not included in the room rate - only Continental was offered unless you wished to pay extra. Also there was no free parking available and whilst we were given a discount it still cost £8.50 for one day. Absolutely stunned to be honest.

Central location in the heart of the city

Posted 21-Jul-2017
Pros: The staff. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble and they had good knowledge of the area The hotel itself was central to everything
Cons: The plumbing ! It made a terrible noise when we flushed the loo or turned on the shower
Location: Loads of history. Loads of shops Loads of bars and restaurants A horseracing course and not enough time to enjoy them all (we strayed for two night)
We had a wonderful stay in Chester. We found the staff to be polite friendly and very helpful. In fact the people of Chester are very friendly. The room was spacious and we were at the side of the building so it was quiet . We ate in the hotel on my Birthday and the food was very good They even made me a special dessert The breakfast in the morning was a continental which was served at the table.Service was a bit slow but it was at a busy time and was substantial We would recommend this hotel to friends and family. In fact we are looking forward to going back

Lovely hotel in the middle of city centre

Posted 17-Jul-2017
My stay at the Grosvenor was fab. I was treated to afternoon tea for myself and a friend as part of my birthday gift from my boys. We then spent time in Chester city centre soaking in the atmospher of the people coming from the race course as there had been a race meeting that day .

A luxury hotel at the top of its game

Posted 14-Jul-2017
The hotel is luxury itself . The staff are extremely attentive and cannot do enough for you. They seem to really love what they do. The food is very high standard and room service selection for breakfast is excellent. I had a wonderful birthday two night stay and would definetly recommend it. The hotel is very central to all the amenities in Chester shops restaurants and bars. Amazing !!!
