"Second visit to this hotel and it was just as good as the first time. Clean spacious rooms, with shower over bath. All staff were wonderful as was the breakfast. Plenty of amenities just a short walk away, including restaurants & shops/supermarket. Wouldn't hesitate in coming here again. Kevin Hill."

"The room was lovely, large & comfortable, but the reason I cant give a 5 star rating is because the water pressure in the shower is ridiculous. We stay here often, and it's the same in every room we've stayed in. A watering can would give you a better shower. I know water rates are high, but if they just put £1 on the cost of the room, it would cover it"

"Our stay at the ship inn was lovely. The room was spacious and modern, the bed was really comfortable, the bathroom and walk in shower were delightful. We didn’t have the breakfast as we had other plans with friends. This is a help yourself continental style breakfast, which looked quite basic but perfectly adequate. The staff onsite were very friendly and accommodating. The only thing we found could be improved is the communication beforehand. I had a query and so messaged via Expedia, I also phoned and left a message on their answerphone with my number for them to contact me back. I also emailed them directly. Unfortunately none of my messages were returned, which I did find disappointing and resulted in me feeling a bit anxious about what we may face when we arrived. As mentioned, everything else was all good and we would stay again Detailed information about how to get to the car park would also be helpful as it is at the back of the property down a one way street, which we found by accident."

"Lovely, interesting old building in a very good location. Given the age of the hotel there are the inevitable uneven floors and slightly steep stairs. The free parking at the rear of the hotel is a real bonus. Our room was comfortable, well equipped and pleasantly decorated. The breakfasts were consistently good but sadly the hotel does not provide evening meals. All the staff were cheerful and very helpful. We would definitely stay here again."
