Low Wood Bay Resort & Spa

Low Wood Bay Resort & Spa

8/10 Good
"Lovely hotel with marina views. Rooms well equipped and spacious. Range of toiletries in the bathroom. Friendly staff and a good atmosphere. However, for the cost of the hotel, I was disappointed with the following: As a 'dog-friendly' hotel, we could not eat in the main restaurants with our furbaby. We had to settle for a limited menu in the bar area. The meals were lukewarm when they were served, and we had to send 2 of the 3 meals back and wait for them to be recooked. The replacements were piping hot. The same restaurant issue arose the next morning regarding dogs; however, we were able to go into the restaurant and bring the food through to the bar area, which had been set up for others doing the same. The produce was high quality but had obviously been out for a while, so eggs, sausages and bacon were quite 'dry/overcooked'. Very disappointing."

"Badly needs bringing into the 21st century. No air conditioning in the rooms, and basic TVs with only Freeview. Need to change to smart TV or at least be able to Chromecast. Rooms are not cleaned by housekeeping unless you ask and when i did on 1 occasion they still didn't do it. I reminded them on reception after waiting 6 hours but still never turned up. In the end i knocked on housekeeping door to get fresh towels myself! Cooked breakfast was nice but very limited options for continental. Just natural yoghurt, no flavoured ones , especially nothing for our 5 year old daughter. Meats and cheeses was a tiny selection. I also personally think it's wrong to charge guests £15 a day to park your car. You know we all arrive by car so either just include in the price or don't do it. Bit annoying when checking out to be reminded I owe another £45. Staff were lovely as usual but you can tell they have cut back on the numbers. We stay there because of the location and the staff. I just wish you updated the rooms and the sofa bed in our family room is so uncomfortable it should be thrown out. Awful piece of furniture. For £260 a night i think your guests deserve more."
