Highly recommend it
When we arrived at the hotel, we were told that we had been upgraded. It was fantastic, we had a suite. A beautiful sitting room, with all that you needed. A lovely bedroom with another sofa and TV and a delightful en-suite. The staff were lovely and helpful. The food was delicious and plentiful. Highly recommend it.

Rooms lack basic amenities
This hotel is OK but needs attention to some basics. There is nowhere to put toiletries in the bathroom. The room was up two steep flights of stairs and cases should autonmatically be taken up. Breakfast was very nice.

Nice decor. Pleasant staff.
A welcoming pub/restaurant/hotel with parking outside. The staff all very pleasant. However, we were rather disappointed with our room as it had absolutely no view from a high, small window. We had to climb on to a seat and reach across a dress to close the blind and open the window. Tricky. Very little and cramped hanging rail holding also an ironing board, iron and large fan. Narrow desk drawers, two very small drawers in bedside tables and on lowdown drawer below the hanging unit, so we lived out of our case. All this is shown on the photos, so we could have expected it, but still surprised, considering the cost every night over £100. Attractive general rooms but outside space not great.

Wonderful little hotel
What a fabulous little hotel. We were absolutely thrilled to bits with it. Very friendly and helpful staff, lovely interiors, very comfortable and well-appointed room (just dropped a point for obvious cobwebs in one corner), very decent food and overall good value. We will definitely be back next time we're in the area :-)

We had an overnight stay in a superior room after a family funeral The room and bathroom was in need of upgrading/freshening though it was big enough and the bed comfortable The hospitality tray was very good Breakfast was fine. Service could have been friendlier!

Nice room and good food for dinner and breakfast. All of breakfast needed to be ordered - there is no buffet. Our bedroom faced the village church, whose bells sound every 15 minutes.

Lovely stop off
A lovely place to stay to break up our journey from Scotland back to the Southwest. We had an excellent evening meal and the staff were all very accommodating. Our only criticism was that the breakfast was quite greasy and overcooked. Other than this, excellent.

Lovely hotel in an area of much beauty. Hotel and bedroom beautiful decorated and very clean. Nice atmosphere. Dinner and breakfast in the restaurant was very good. Staff helpful and attentive, weather was very hot, so well done to the staff in their not so cool uniforms👍

Lovely hotel in a beautiful little town, the restaurant is fantastic and the Thwaites beer is beautiful, best cask beer I've ever had, check in was a complete mess and was made worse by a lack of desire to try and resolve, I was made to feel like my booking might be at risk, it turned out they had messed up the booking and given a colleague my room so when I turned up of course my room wasn't free, not my fault but was made to feel it was, there was no apology either. Annoying as this was after a 5 hour car journey and I just didn't need it, but its impact on my overall stay was limited as everything else was amazing. Only other thought is parking is quite limited not sure where you would park if it was full, luckily that didn't happen.

Check in was satisfactory. Then fob didn't work. Unfriendly staff asked me stupid questions then made another card. I skipped the breakfast as there was not much variety. On my second day card wouldn't work,staff asked me pathetic questions as if I was an intruder. So on Sunday I did early check out and bye bye. Never again in hotel like this. Waste of money£170 per day. Rubbish.stay away.

Very pleasant and very well situated. Rooms are very nicely decorated and the dining area very pleasant. You need to have into account that some rooms are upstairs, after a narrow staircase. Impossible if you are with a person with reduced mobility or an old person. Quite a hassle to get the suitcase up.
