"We attended a wedding and stayed 2 nights. We had a castle feature room which was in the castle itself and very nicely decorated and offered an iron/ board which was a great touch. I did find that there was a bit of a drain smell as you entered the room, probably because it’s a very old building. The food in the restaurant was average, my roasted cod was a piece about 4 inches square on a very watery bed of noodles in a miso broth which I didn’t think was value for money or tasty. The reception next day was beautiful, in a stunning state room which meant we really enjoyed the wedding."

"Basic double courtyard rooms. Spacious rooms but standard double beds - though from the indentations on the carpet in mine, a Queen or King resided there before. Even so, the base "flat" sheets did not fit the mattress to the head exposing no protector. Total lack of information in my room (27) that was there in our daughter's (25) regarding wifi access and other info. I had to wash a tea cup in my room that had a sticky residue at the bottom of it and clear lip residue around the rim. No mixer taps for the bath or basin - fine. I'm British - I can "mix my own bath". But there is something uniquely annoying about a hand basin where the taps are set so far back the water only just reaches the basin. The blind in my room was functional but lop-sided and needs attentjon."

"Very centrally located Train station down the street castle and keep on the other end. Many dining and drinking places close. Great breakfast available for a small fee. Staff helpful. Shower only and a small bathroom. No laundry available on site but a great one in the community 15minute walk away."

"Our room was really spacious and clean and the hotel had a really great vibe to it with a huge staircase and worldly carpet. Staff were really friendly and helpful. The Automatic check in machine was speedy and great"

"Room was lovely but we were on the court yard and the outdoors lights are very bright and remain on all night which makes the rooms very light. Could either do with motion sensor lights or black out curtains. Bed was very comfortable"

"My wife and I try to travel as often as possible. We like to find unique, fancy hotels and we just found our favorite. First, the location is the best in Newcastle. Close enough to all the downtown sites and activities, but still quiet enough to have a nice romantic walk. Second, this was the cleanest room we've ever stayed in. The entire hotel was top notch. Third, the staff was the most fantastic. Friendly smiles and went above and beyond to help us with anything we needed. I wish I would have eaten at the amazing looking restaurant and visited the spa. We definitely will be back to do it all. The corner room facing the bridge was absolutely incredible! Thank you for being part of us falling in love with Newcastle!"
