"The room appeared tired with predominantly dull brown furniture though armchair seating in our upgraded room was comfortable. The bed seemed springy but in fact we both slept well. Best feature of the room was the bathroom which appeared to have been renovated recently with a roomy walk in shower. Carpeting and flooring throughout was worn and uneven. On arrival the reception and check-in process was ponderous and rather flat. Breakfast the following morning was sparse with few options. Saving grace was the cooked to order menu and made more enjoyable by the cheery and efficient service from Cara - how great to see such a confident and motivated young person."

"Trelaw is a gorgeous cottage in a very peaceful spot. There are amazing views and wildlife on the doorstep. We saw house martins, hares and a baby deer from the living room window. The cottage has everything you need and Adele left us some lovely treats. We enjoyed the hot tub and would have used the many other outside features but the weather was not on our side.We used the cottage as a base to explore the area and we visited Dumfries House, Culzean Castle, Arran and Glasgow. The location is perfect for a taste of city life, the coast and the countryside. There is something for everyone in this beautiful part of Scotland. This cottage is perfect for those who want to relax in the countryside and don’t mind driving to get to places. There aren’t really local amenities within walking distance, though there are local shops, cafes and takeaways a short drive away. It suited us perfectly and we would love to return."

"We had a fantastic short break at Muirston. The cottage was lovely and really big and it was well equipped with everything we needed. The hot tub was great and the views from every window in the cottage is absolutely stunning! The owners left us a elxokr hamper which was a nice touch. We will definitely return."

"We loved our wee break here even if we did have the worst weather ever. The cottage is lovely and bright, clean and modern and there’s everything you need for cooking etc. Bath and showers were lovely and powerful. Stars of the show are the little chickens who just wander around all the local farmland and in the garden all day. Watching the bird table was fun especially the woodpecker and at night there’s a little hedgehog that visits the garden too. Bird and hedgehog food are supplied so you can feed them which is cute and David the owner couldn’t have been nicer. The welcome pack is fab as well. Just watch your dogs with the chickens we only let ours off the lead in the garden when they were in their coop for the night or when we could see they were nowhere near as ours liked to try and catch them 🤦🏻‍♀️ Just a lovely relaxing wee place to stay"
