"Check in was easy and location was good, thise are the only positives. The property is extremely dated and dirty. The furnishings in communal areas were torn, threadbare, stained, dirty and smelly. The carpets were dirty, covered in dog and human hair. There was mould above the shower and dirt and mould under the sink. The areas around the toilets were soiled with rusted old urine splashes. "Very friendly atmosphere and lovely staff who were happy and willing to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Superior double room was clean and spacious and bathroom was pristine and up to date. It would have been nice to be able to open the fixed net curtains to have a proper view of the garden outside our room but this is a small personal niggle. Breakfast and dinner were both delicious and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Overall, a lovely location for a weekend visiting Rye and its surroundings and I would stay here again."

"We have just come home after a 4 night stay at The Burlington. On our arrival my friend and I were a bit worried as the hotel looks a bit run down from the outside. Once we were inside, we were pleasantly surprised. We had an excellent welcome from the reception staff and the lounge and bar area's are bright and clean. Our rooms were also comfortable and clean. The breakfasts had a good selection of food and there was a good choice for the evening meals. Overall we had an enjoyable stay and felt it was good value for how much we paid."

"The hotel is old world , but badly needs a bit of loving care , but despite being a Britannia Hotel... it was fairly good. We were eating out , but the restaurant looked very nice. with good value prices. Our 'Seaview room turned out to be a 'Partial View' not Seaview as shown on website which comes at an extra charge of £15. Hotels.com needs to be more careful when advertising rooms... Seaview - to me -does not mean Partial Seaview."
