"The good things were the bedroom was big and roomy and staff were friendly and helpful. The reception is up a flight of stairs and no lift for luggage in fact no lift at all working in building. The bedroom had lots of plus points, storage, large comfy bed but net curtains were marked and hole in main curtain. There was a safe in the room but we were advised it should have been removed as they were no longer working. The breakfast was adequate but just that, staff did get non dairy milk for me...

"Visiting a relative in Eastbourne, we booked the hotel based on its reviews, and we are so glad we did. With a great position, right on the sea front, with just a short walk to shops and restaurants. A beautiful building, built at the turn of the 20th century it had been completely refurbished, and re-opened in 2019. They have skilfully kept the best things, the 125 year old cage lift, the beautiful downstairs windows and other architectural details, whilst modernising the property in keeping with the original style. We loved the piano bar and the guest lounge. Our room on the top floor has a sea view, a very comfortable bed, coffee machine and tea-making facilities. The bathroom was ideal, with the walk-in shower we had requested. They provided a hairdryer although I had taken my own. The only slight irritation was that, like so many other hotels, there was no mirror anywhere near a plug to see how you were drying your hair. Parking was available across the road and the hotel provided the necessary parking permit at a very reasonable cost, Very friendly staff and spotlessly clean. A wonderful hotel that we will use again."

"I had a "newer" room at the back of the hotel overlooking my favourite pub, the Beau Nash Tavern. The room was comfortable, clean, quiet, and well-appointed. As a new room it was shoe-horned into the existing property so getting to my room was pretty funny as the path from the front desk to it was convoluted in an entertaining sort of way (people enjoyed the video on my Instagram!). I had dinner and breakfast in the dining room, both were excellent too. The staff were all friendly and helpful. I would stay here again."
