"I have been hounded by Hotels.com to leave a review. The hotel reception staff were very helpful, but I had cancelled my stay so have no review to give. I asked for a VAT receipt for the cancellation cost and the staff could not have been more helpful. Many thanks to them."

"Lovely, older but very dignified hotel. Wonderful food in restaurant and excellent service. Handy for walking up the hill to the Cathedral and for walking to other areas like the main square and shops. I loved it. Very comfortable room and nice big bathroom. Definitely recommended. "

"Possibly because it was for Sunday & Monday nights, our 2-night stay was exceptional value. Very comfortable dormer-style room across the courtyard from the main castle (glad we missed last week's mini-heatwave or it would have been hot - although there was a big fan provided). Excellent breakfasts with interesting choices as well as full English. Friendly and efficient staff. We didn't eat in the main restaurant this time but we know it's good; we just didn't feel our appetites could do it justice and it is quite expensive - good for a celebration meal though. We ate in town Sunday night then in the hotel bar on Monday - the steak pie, mash & tenderstem broccoli was excellent."
