Everything was better than we expected, had just booked as a base so wasn't expecting luxury but was pleasantly surprised at how nice it was.

"Convenient "home base" for vacation in Rome"
We arrived after 11 p.m. and the front desk was ready for us and very polite. Even at that late hour the desk clerk spoke enough English for us to have a quick and efficient check-in. Then off to our room, which was precisely what I had asked for. Often the people working the front desk remembered which room we were in and always were pleasant and helpful.

"Decent hotel"
As the title says- decent stay at Invictus hotel. I went in January so I used the heating system which was blowing warm air straight towards the bed. A bit uncomfortable but ok in general. The fridge was a nice surprise. Overall it was nice.

Friendly family atmosphere, only 14 rooms so didn't really feel like an hotel which was nice. Breakfast room on top floor was particularly nice especially the roof terrace off it.

"Nice place to stay"
We stayed four nights at this hotel. It would have been very confusing as to how to get into the hotel had I not read a previous reviewers tip- having to push the button by the big wooden door at the first entrance- this unlocked the other doors. The hotel is very small(only twenty rooms), and quaint. The staff is very personable and is willing to help you with any questions or problems you may have. The check-in area (on 2nd floor)is not very large and you must walk by it upon entering and exiting your room. They wish for you to leave your room keys with them when you leave the building, which is really fine..this way you know you cannot lose your keys....I guess they can do this because it is such a small hotel. The rooms were spacious enough and clean. The showers were small, and in one of our 2 rooms the air conditioner did not cool as well as the other. The location of the hotel was very good. It was a 2 minute walk to the metro, and 15 minute walk to the Trevi Fountain and The Spanish Steps. There were cafes close by as well. I would stay at this hotel again.

"Excellent hotel, OK location"
The hotel itself is excellent. Clean, comfortable, safe and secure, breakfast is really yum (and very generous) and staff are friendly and helpful. The location is OK, a bit out of the way from the central city, but fine for the budget traveller if you're prepared to walk or navigate Rome's terrible bus system. We weren't fussed but you do need to allow extra time to get to the main tourist attractions. It's about a 15-20 min walk from Termini or a short cab fare.

"Boutique hotel, in the heart of Rome"
Location is only one of the great features! Located on a small, quiet street, besides Piazza Barberini, this hotel is easily accessible by metro, from Termini train station and airport commuter train. Great restaurants and caffees pepper the nearby streets. Easy walking distance to all great sights and monuments allows for short sightseeing trips and quick return for an afternoon nap, or a rest in the lovely courtyard. Scrumptious breakfast buffet refuels for a day of fun in Rome. Friendly staff will make your stay here as pleasant as they can. This hotel has been fully renovated and includes elevator, still retaining its old European charm.

Pocket Guide: Rome Via Veneto 3 stars Hotels

Made famous by 'La Dolce Vita' film in 1960, the Via Veneto is going through a glamorous renaissance. Bars, restaurants, chic hotels and boutiques all vie for attention in the street which coined the expression 'paparazzo' – the surname of the photojournalist in the film. Nearby, the Spanish Steps are the place for lovers' trysts, shopping, and honing the Italian art of 'dolce far niente' – idling and people-watching.
