A few things that would improve overall visit- the green emergency light above the bedroom door casts light into the room all night and really impacts sleep for people who need a dark room? It was rather like having a nightlight you could not switch off. Would also be nice to have more than one towel and a mirror in the bedroom to dry hair. If fact, they were very helpful in amending our booking and carrying luggage etc. The room was quaint and quirky, quite quiet and comfortable."

The accommodation was adequate for the two nights, we found it difficult to maintain the heat balance in the room and it was fairly chilly in the pub , the good food and atmosphere made up for this. "We felt that the owners were not enthusiastic hosts. We were not shown half the facilities shown on the website, jut our room and the breakfast room. The breakfasts were average to poor (a dreadful poached egg ruined the smoked salmon it was served with). The TV in our room did not work, the picture was pixellated on all channels.."

"Had a great 2 night stay at House of Fisher. The staff were exceedingly helpful in recommending interesting places to visit. The apartment hotel is perfectly located in the centre of Reading and within easy walking distance of shops and restaurants "

"If located at the front of the building, there’s a lot of noise and light from the street and at all hours. You’ll need to bring earplugs and eye mask! Also, be aware that the hot water cylinder only heats overnight, so not unusual to have no hot water in the evenings! Building could do with refurbishment."

There are no blackout blinds, so bring an eye mask! Double glazing reduces the noise, but you’ll need ear plugs if sleeping with windows open.
