“One of the best hotels in the world!”
From the minute we were collected from our taxi to the moment we left 5 days later, we were enchanted. The hotel was beautiful inside & out. The staff were very efficient & friendly, the breakfast was brilliant. I used the gym & swam in the pool twice - again a fantastic experience, and not too busy. There were roadworks outside, but it did not detract from the magic. What was especially fascinating was outside the lifts there was a wall of brass plaques for every famous person who has stayed at the hotel - actors, musicians, etc. The bedrooms were uniquely & beautifully decorated & furnished, and they were roomy. I had a fantastic view of the square (Kongens Nytorv) with the canal in the distance (Ny Havn). In the evening I loved watching the sun go down & the lights come on.
“May return one day when road works finished”
The hotel is in a perfect location for the shops and within easy walking distance of bars, restaurants and other attractions, however the major civil engineering works outside the hotel do spoil the views from the restaurant. I could not fault the staff but was a bit disappointed with the room which I felt was not 5 star as the extractor did not work in the bathroom and on collecting my clothes from the wardrobe prior to checkout came across a soiled pair of ladies panties behind the room safe. I put them back and wondered how thoroughly the room was cleaned
“Copenhagen best hotel”
I have stayed in the best hotels all over the world, but D'Angleterre, was the most comfortable, very friendly staff, I will be going back there.
“Sean .. darlinghurst”
Its all noted above, the only complaint would be that the air conditioning was useless but everything else was excellent.
“Best Central Location”
Hotel was good but disappointed that as a guest we were unable to eat in the restaurant for both dinner and lunch as they were fully booked!!Was told that I should have reserved a table prior to going....not the best service really!!!and they werent very interested in looking after us. Positives best central location of all Hotels for everything thats to do and see.
“Great Expedia deal in Copenhagen's best hotel”
The d'Angleterre is a pricy hotel, as you will find out if you look at their website or if you approach the hotel directly, so we were delighted to find a 45% reduction available through Expedia - thanks! Great, old, classy hotel with long, luscious corridors and rooms with high ceilings, courteous and well-presented staff and a roaring fire in the grate. The room (standard double) was fine and sumptuous, but the bath had been scoured rough by decades of cleaning. No tea or coffee making facilities and limited channels on the TV. Breakfast astonishingly expensive, so we ate out every day at a quarter of the price. Brilliantly located at one end of the Stroget and near Nyhavn, 100 metres or so from the new metro with direct connections to the airport, so it couldn't have been better.
“Faded Grandeur - tired looking hotel - fabulous breakfast”
The Hotel has seen better days, great historical building but the rooms, while extremely spacious were early 80's in decor and amenities. Location was excellent as was the breakfast which was amongst the best I have ever had in a hotel. The Pool was, like the rest of the hotel, in need of some refurbishment. Staff were warm and friendly, coffee was shocking! IMHO a 4* rather than 5* hotel.
