Copenhagen Travel Guide Video

A visit to the capital of Denmark is like taking a trip straight into a fairy tale. Copenhagen combines a fascinating heritage and history alongside stylish modern designs. Discover the charming town with its beautiful harbours, cycling culture and excellent public transport links and find out why Copenhagen is so highly praised for its quality of life.

Discover the origins of Copenhagen as a 12th century fishing village and learn all about the Vikings in The National Museum, and then sample that original produce with a little fresh fish in deNyhavn (New Harbour). The Danish capital is situated on the strait between the North and Baltic Sea and its northern location brings long, cold winters, but visitors will appreciate how magic the city looks covered in snow.

In the summer, the parks and the neighbourhoods on the waterfront come to life, and Tivoli GardensOpens in a new window open their doors. In this central location you’ll find one of the oldest amusement parks in the world. Kids will also love Copenhagen ZooOpens in a new window. Go on to the Amalienborg PalaceOpens in a new window to see where the Danish royal family lives. Walk or bike from there along the waterfront to the statue of the Little Mermaid, inspired by the beloved fairy tale by Hans Christian Andersen. Most of Copenhagen’s top attractions are covered by the Copenhagen Card, letting you explore the best the city has to offer without breaking the bank.

Along with the colourful houses, The Round Tower also seems like something straight out of a fairytale, like those by the of the popular Danish children’s author. To get the best view of this dream-like city, climb the vantage point at the corkscrew-shaped spire of the 17th-century Church of Our Saviour from the windows it is easy to see why so many people fall in love with Copenhagen.

Loved our visit. It was a bit cold as March but had warm clothes. The food was wonderful and also a few locally brewed beers. Everyone was very friendly. We only had 3 days so didn’t get to see all we wanted but will return.
