I stayed there with my wife while I was in the area on business - I went to work and my wife caught up with friends. I can remember the hotel site from when it was Henley Brewery so it was particularly interesting for me to see the conversion and development. I have to say that, sorry as I was to see the brewery go, the hotel is a triumph and the rooms have been imaginatively converted to provide some comfortable yet quirky accommodation. Our room was over two levels, with a huge bathroom comprising a fantastic stand alone bath and excellent shower. The courtyard would have been a pleasure to have experienced if only the weather had been good enough and the bars and restaurant were cleverly laid out with some quaint nooks and crannies. One slight gripe, which is why my overall rating was "pleasing" rather than "excellent" - for the fairly high price of the room, I should have thought that breakfast ought to have been included, which it wasn't.
Staff service was excellent
offered choice of rooms on arrival
Original building c. 1600, so lots of oak beams etc on show.
Lovely finishes: timber veneer wardrobe, antique furniture, marble shelf in bathroom
we had a room overlooking the river, so lots to see including rowers preparing for the regattas.
beautifull village setting close to the Thames to attend a boating event without the noise and crowds of Henley itself.
Fantastic staff and the food! wow brilliant.
small silly problem with the bathroom
We had been looking forward to a stay in Henley and broadly we were not disappointed- but with a few caveats. The hotel is 7.1 miles from Henley and a £12 taxi fare. The taxi was quickly and helpfully booked by the manager for us- it arrived promptly and was very smart- A spotless Mercedes- we used the same company for the return and were transferred in a brand new Audi A6.
Our arrival was easy and efficient. The staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel is not rural as the pictures may suggest. The only real disappointment was the room itself which had a broken shower a broken toilet seat and toothpaste in the sink. Pretty skanky really. The bed was Ok but had seen better days- there is no air conditioning despite that being shown on Expedia. I mentioned the issues on checkout and the very apologetic manager gave me a discount which helped ease my pain! In fact he dealt with the issue very well indeed.
Breakfast was great- served quickly and high quality.
All in all a lovely little place- urgently in need of a guest room makeover- clean up- redesign to even vaguely justify the price tag.

Henley is justifiably famous for its annual Royal Regatta at the end of June, the biggest and best-known rowing competition in Britain, which takes place between Henley Bridge and Temple Island. It also holds a black tie music festival in July, and the 80s music festival Rewind in August. For the rest of the year it is a quiet riverside town dotted with quaint pubs and pricey boutiques.
