I stayed there with my wife while I was in the area on business - I went to work and my wife caught up with friends. I can remember the hotel site from when it was Henley Brewery so it was particularly interesting for me to see the conversion and development. I have to say that, sorry as I was to see the brewery go, the hotel is a triumph and the rooms have been imaginatively converted to provide some comfortable yet quirky accommodation. Our room was over two levels, with a huge bathroom comprising a fantastic stand alone bath and excellent shower. The courtyard would have been a pleasure to have experienced if only the weather had been good enough and the bars and restaurant were cleverly laid out with some quaint nooks and crannies. One slight gripe, which is why my overall rating was "pleasing" rather than "excellent" - for the fairly high price of the room, I should have thought that breakfast ought to have been included, which it wasn't.
Stayed for a single night whilst attending a function in Henley. Room was very clean and comfortable with a superb shower. Staff very friendly and breakfast was great. Didn't dine in, but the menu looked great and the restaurant was busy. I walked back along the river from Henley at midnight, which was lovely, but you need a good torch.
Staff service was excellent
offered choice of rooms on arrival
Original building c. 1600, so lots of oak beams etc on show.
Lovely finishes: timber veneer wardrobe, antique furniture, marble shelf in bathroom
we had a room overlooking the river, so lots to see including rowers preparing for the regattas.
Henley is justifiably famous for its annual Royal Regatta at the end of June, the biggest and best-known rowing competition in Britain, which takes place between Henley Bridge and Temple Island. It also holds a black tie music festival in July, and the 80s music festival Rewind in August. For the rest of the year it is a quiet riverside town dotted with quaint pubs and pricey boutiques.
