Leave the Casino: 5 Apartments in Las Vegas for a Relaxed Trip
“Although Las Vegas has a reputation built on its casinos and all that can be found within them, there’s another more chilled out side to the city. From the attractions of the regenerated Downtown and the creative scene of the Arts District to the canyons and other natural wonders of the surrounding area, it’s easy to leave the casino behind with these five Las Vegas apartments.
You’ll find the Desert Moon Motel in Downtown Las Vegas, an area that is increasingly drawing visitors away from the Strip, and not only because of the hotels and casinos. The Freemont Street Experience brings together shopping and restaurants with live music performances and light shows. Elsewhere in the neighbourhood, the DISCOVERY Children’s Museum is great if you’re travelling with the family, while the Smith Center welcomes travelling Broadway shows and is home to the Las Vegas Philharmonic orchestra.
The Desert Moon Motel has different types of rooms available, including suites with kitchenette and free WiFi. Some suites are suitable for families and can sleep up to two children. If you fancy cooking in the open air, you’re in luck – within the motel grounds you’ll find barbecue grills for guests and a picnic area in the garden.
Close to the famous Little White Wedding Chapel, the Villa Arabia is well-placed for exploring Las Vegas’ vibrant Arts District. At the Arts Factory and in the galleries of Art Square you can discover a version of the city that is a long way from the casinos of the Strip. On the first Friday of the month, for example, there’s a street festival, while the Cockroach Theatre is known for its indie productions. If you have a free afternoon, simply stroll the neighbourhood and take in the street art before spending an evening at one of the many bars and restaurants.
The Villa Arabia has four bedrooms and an outdoor pool if you need to cool off in the desert heat. There is a fully-equipped kitchen and a zen garden with firepit for cooking outdoors. The cottage also has a live music room, a hot tub and air conditioning.
You might not know it, but Las Vegas is also a university town – and the area around the University of Nevada is where you’ll find the Candlewood Suites. It’s also a good base from which to explore the Strip, Downtown and other destinations in the city. There are also some interesting attractions in the university district that are worth checking out, including SeaQuest Las Vegas and, if you fancy a round of golf, the Las Vegas National Golf Course. This area is also close to the airport and the Las Vegas Convention Center.
The Candlewood Suites are between the university and the Strip, close to the National Atomic Testing Museum. There are different suites and apartments on offer, all with kitchen, television, DVD player and free WiFi. The suites also have an outdoor swimming pool, a 24-hour reception and barbecue grills outside.
Beautiful Townhome with Pool

The Las Vegas suburb of Summerlin is where you’ll find the Beautiful Townhome with Pool, and the chance to discover a very different side to Las Vegas. If golf is your thing, then you’ll be spoilt for choice with easy access to TPC Summerlin and TPC Las Vegas courses. If you fancy experiencing the ultimate American summertime event, Summerlin is also home to the Las Vegas Ballpark and is a good spot for heading out of the city. The Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area is just a short drive from Summerlin, but it still feels like a long way from the casinos and hotels of the iconic Strip.
The Townhome in Summerlin has two bedrooms and access to a garden and outdoor pool area. There is free WiFi and parking, and a barbecue and picnic area. The apartment has separate dining and living area too, plus a private balcony.
Home2 Suites by Hilton

You may be looking for an apartment that leaves the casino behind, but even if you don’t want to set foot in the gaming rooms, there is still plenty to occupy your time on the Strip. The Home2 Suites by Hilton Las Vegas City Center are close to the hotels on the Strip where you can catch a show, whether it’s a musical, a pop concert or a circus performance. Or you can just take in some of the famous sights, including the world-famous Bellagio fountains.
The suites all include a kitchenette, fridge and dishwasher, with flatscreen TVs and free WiFi. Courtesy of a restaurant, the Home2 Suites by Hilton also offers you the chance to leave the cooking to someone else – meaning more time for relaxing, whether you’re in your suite or by the outdoor pool.
