Blogger Picks: Hotels for an Easter Break

“Forget indulging in chocolate eggs – for us, the Easter break is a chance to indulge in travel. The weather is warming up in the Northern Hemisphere, the kids are off school, and many resorts and attractions are opening up again after a winter hiatus. Down in the southern hemisphere it’s autumn, so the weather’s still reasonable but the crowds (and prices) are often smaller. We asked six bloggers for their Easter getaway tips…

Cowley Manor, Gloucestershire, England
—————————————

Chosen by: Lori from Wild and Grizzly

“Love this hidden jewel nestled in the Cotswolds countryside for a perfect getaway. Cowley Manor offers a stylish modernist interior mixed with the grandeur of a stately home and is perfect for visiting as a couple or with kids. The food is a wonderful experience as is the relaxing Spa.”

Fairmont Kea Lani Maui, Hawaii
———————————–

Chosen by: Susanna from A Modern Mother

“For Easter? How about a stay at The Fairmont Kea Lani in Maui?

It’s Hawaii’s only all-suite and luxury villa oceanfront resort and is perfect for families. The resort recently benefitted from a $70 million renovation – focused mainly on upgrading the suites – and it shows. Suite footprints are all the same; it’s the view that changes with varying prices.

They offer lots of “extras” including cultural experiences aimed at visitors who want a deeper understanding of Hawaii’s culture beyond the stereotypical leis and Mai Tais. I tried Kiakahi – a combination of new age exercises with Hawaiian and Polynesian training methods.

Don’t miss the Torch Lighting Ceremony. Each evening at dusk a mysterious figure dressed in a pau (grass skirt) and ankle bracelets lights each tiki torch across the property. Kids follow him across the resort like the Pied Piper!”

Hotel Annunziata, Ferrara, Italy
————————————-

Chosen by: Kirstie from Family Adventure Project

“At Hotel Annunziata in Ferrara even the silver-white players on the table football game have style. But they pale into insignificance next to the artistry of the buffet breakfast. I recommend eating like a medieval king at this modern boutique hotel – it’ll power you on when biking cobbled streets to the castle and beyond in the Easter sunshine.”

Novotel Sydney Manly Pacific, Sydney, Australia
—————————————————-

Chosen by: Jacob and Emily from Just Globetrotting

“Ideally located on Australia’s famed Manly Beach, the Novotel Sydney Manly Pacific is perfect for ocean views, beach hopping, shopping, cafes, bars and more. So much so, that we had our wedding reception here back in 2013. It’s JUST perfect for an Easter break!”

Peckforton Castle, Cheshire, England
—————————————–

Chosen by: Katy from Otis and Us

“We have stayed at Peckforton Castle in Tarporley, Cheshire. We were drawn here as it is an absolutely stunning castle set in beautiful woodlands in the heart of Cheshire. It is an ideal base to explore The Ice-cream Farm, Beeston Castle, Cheshire Workshops or to head into Chester, although we enjoyed simply spending time wandering around the grounds of the castle. The rooms are individual, luxurious and I loved all the original features that seemed to create a real sense of history. The 1851 restaurant offers a really special dining experience, and there is also the option to dine at the informal Brasserie which is located in the Scullery. What we loved most? That families and children are more than welcome. We would definitely return!”

Hotel Pelirocco, Hove, England
———————————–

Chosen by: Tom from Spaghetti Traveller

Hotel Pelirocco is by far the most unique and interesting hotel I have been in through my travels. This is the original rock ‘n’ roll hotel, with each room having a different theme, from the punk rock themed Pretty Vacant room to the glamorous pin-up parlour. The downstairs hosts live music events, while they were serving afternoon tea and cocktails when I arrived. This is an unbelievable option if you want to see the truly bizarre side of Brighton.”
