Lake District Castle Inn hotel & Spa

"We stayed in one of the family rooms, capable of sleeping six (One King, Four Singles) which was fantastic to find as a family of five. The room itself was spacious, clean and the beds were comfortable. Nice range of tea, coffee, hot chocolate, water and biscuits in the room, plenty of towels etc. We used the pool and spa which were well maintained and wasn't too busy at the time we were there. We had a look at the restaurant menu for dinner which was fine for adults, but wasn't much in the way of children's options, there was Pizza available but that was the only thing our fussy kids would have had."

"The breakfast buffet was excellent although the hot buffet would benefit from closed containers as the food soon became cold from the open ones. The rooms were well heated and ventilated. All the staff were excellent and very dog friendly. My only complaint was although I had asked for a ground floor room due to problems with my knees this was not available and I had to manage the stairs which was difficult. On the whole à very pleasant break"

"Fantastic! What a beautiful setting. We were the first time try the autumn menu, the food is excellent, different menu (not pie chips and gravy). Interesting starters (seared scallops), perfectly cooked Rump steak, the pork belly and crackling with apple sauce and crackling, cooked tp perfect...not to mention the roast potatoes. We were treated like VIP guests. Professional and friendly staff, shout out to Katy. Our room was available 2 hours before, which came as a bonus after a 6 hour journey. Sterling service all round. Will definitely be going back. Beautiful views of Gretna Green across the sea. 11/10."

"The hotel was just at the end of some upgrades. The new bar looks amazing. I only stayed for 2 nights, but when the lady at breakfast found out I am lactose intolerant the next day there was everything I needed to enjoy my breakfast. Thank you"
