Just the ease of driving up to the main entrance to check in and friendly staff making the process easy in the middle of the night.

Will visit again, thank you.

A warm welcome on our arrival and was checked in quickly and escorted to our room. Staff were terrific, dinner plentiful, warm ambience and fairly busy. The room is small but fine for one night and price. The only thing was the headboard in room 2 was flaking off. Such an easy fix but very visible when you first walk in - an impression that makes you think what else is wrong here. Also a couple of cleaning products left in room. Again, not a big deal, but careless. Would recommend to stay for a...

The hotel as a whole and the location was great for our needs. The decor is fantastic and there is clearly no expense spared. Great value for money and breakfast was top draw. It is of very high standard and the staff couldn't have been anymore friendly. Would definitely stay again and highly recommend.

Restaurant and bars fantastic old England atmosphere. Restaurant food reasonable price and excellent. Shower and toilet a little cramped. Comfortable bed and good coffee, tea biscuits provided. Breakfast good with plenty of choice. Loads of character definitely worth a visit.

We had nice stay one night. We had nice Valentin night and good breakfast. Thank you very much.

From start to finish a truly memorable experience in every good way We had a 3 night break due to a wedding and was using the jolly sailor-fish on the quay as a central base for the wedding and all activities in the area We were greeted by variety with a lovely smile and helpful attitude and were asked if we wanted to go straight up to our room or would prefer a sit down and a drink first and as I had just driven for about an hour chose the latter took a look at the menu and also chose to have a...

Staff very helpful and friendly, slept very well, parking very good has a bar open all the time for residents

Lovely stay as always for a family birthday meet up celebration. The pools and leisure centre are heavenly, especially when the sun comes out. Real holiday vibes in the outdoor pool area. Restaurant food and service exceptional. Only criticism this stay was that the rooms were far too hot at night, couldn't control the radiator heat!

Very handy location close to where we needed to be in Chelmsford. Certainly more room that a budget hotel wih everything you need, including safe parking.

Fab hotel, great amenities, lovely staff. Would stay again

The Woolpack is simply the best Inn that I’ve stayed at. Gorgeous building (complete with ghost?). Staff that are genuinely friendly, a pub packed with locals that must be the friendliest in the Country. I was lucky to be there for Thursday night karaoke… honestly I’ve arranged my diary to be there on Thursdays. If you like an authentic pub, great food, superbly comfortable accommodation and a strong community spirit.. (and maybe a ghostly nun).. then this is the best place to stay!
