Very close to the front
I very much enjoyed my stay at The Resolution, it is very clean, the staff are well trained & polite and the break first was excellent. I will most definitely go back to The Resolution the next time I'm in Whitby.

Nice hotel with friendly staff.
We were welcomed at reception and upgraded to a room on the top floor with a view of Abbey and harbour. Room was spacious and clean. Hotel has large bar and good menu. I would happily reccomend this hotel.

It was a nice room. But room 6 or rooms on that side of the hotel get woken up by drayman and bins at 7 am. So not good if you like a lie in on your holidays. This happened 2 days running.

it was very noisy in room 3 as the door led to the entrance of the club upstairs, then the agonising wait for 1. pm to sleep. we where not made aware of this other than we may experience some noise during the evening. by then we had paid. In the dining area you are confronted with furniture covered in dust, wondering if it would dislodge onto your breakfast. hot water for tea ran out or was tepid.

room was fantastic. comfortable, spacious and clean. only let down was noise. can hear everything. if your a sound sleeper then it's not an issue. apart from this it's a great find.

Nice room, friendly staff, good bar area.entertainment good standard and not too late finishing to be a disturbance. Although hot breakfast not included in rate offered a good choice At reasonable price with limitless coffee or tea and toast. Hotel very good location for everything Whitby has to offer.

The hotel was easy to find, the parking was easy to navigate if you know where to park, ask at the hotel to find and purchase a W ticket for 50p and a map. Close to all the sights, to room was quite and clean.

Excellent location, 2 minute walk to the sea front; could even see the sea just from our room which was unexpected. Comfy bed and nice shower. Couldn't really fault the stay at the revolution other than the single glazed Windows made the live band playing in the pub next door very loud one night and there wasn't loads of space in the room but I had booked the smaller room so it's what I expected.

Friendly, clean and great hotel stay
Great atmosphere in bar during evening, locality was good and overall pleasant stay. Room clean and comfortable. Would recommend this hotel and would stay again. We were lucky that we were on the third floor however as the bar went on with loud music until 1am which could have impacts on anyone wanting an early night or with children. We enjoyed it though.

Totally refurbished room with new bed, decor,bathroom etc. Bathroom needs shelf as nowhere to put anything. Also there are toiletries in the shower but none near sink so had to walk into shower to get soap to wash. Some of doors in hotel slam closed so annoying in middle of night. We were still getting ready when they came to service room on Saturday. We said we would be about 1/2 hour & left room around midday. We got back after 11pm only to find room same as when we left- bed not made, bins full, no teas/coffees, no clean towels. Had to get dressed & go to reception to ask for coffees etc in morning as no-one was answering phone! Very expensive for what it was but it was goth weekend, especially with no breakfast included. As they do breakfast anyway, for what it would actually cost to be included it would have been nice. I emailed the hotel about problems but still havent had courtesy of reply. Would we stay again? Yes, for convenience, but I'd certainly be on top of them re problems we encountered to make sure they didnt happen again.

lovely stay
We really enjoyed our stay, the room was clean, fresh and well presented. The staff were friendly, polite and always willing to answer questions. The food was nicely cooked and plenty of choice. We enjoyed what the area had to offer and will be making this hotel one of our first to contact the next time we travel north even if travelling through.

walking weekend.
whitby was a good please to have a good walk round. but the staff at the hotel were very pleasant, but no one told us that the restaurant was closing at 7pm. which was a bar really. having been walking for 6 hours we booked this so we did not have to go back out.

We got there and the hotel stayed we was not book in. We had booking confirmation and still no room. hotels.com should not have booked us in as they was no rooms available. Will not be booking threw hotels .com again

Decent location and good wifi
Very tired room. Tv didn't work. Walks paper thin so could here everything in surrounding rooms and corridor. Basin tap wouldn't shut off. Website says may be noisy till midnight on Friday and Saturday. We stayed on a Sunday and was loud music that night too. The room was really past its sell by and in need of renovation. Would not recommend for £89 per night

comfortable hotel with entertainment near harbour
Lovely cosy room with a view over the harbour. God food and very obliging staff. Enjoyed the entertainment on Saturday night and also the live bands at a couple of neighbouring hotels.

Over priced and very strange room
Stayed in a suite, very disappointing for the cost of it. The room was very big about 10mx5m, but hardly any furniture so felt very strange and empty. Again a huge bathroom, it was about 5mx4m the same size as a lounge, it had a lonely looking bath at one end, sink at the other, it felt unfinished and like a disabled bathroom as so huge with cheap wet room type Lino flooring and no towel or loo roll holder. The place was clean and breakfast very good. Would only stay again if a cheap deal. Not worth £109 a night as we paid.

I only stayed one night. It is a short walk and easy to find from the station. The room was very warm and the bed comfortable. All with a wonderful view over Whitby.

Massive room (I mean equivelant to a Presidential Suite in a 5 star huge) & equally massive bathroom with corner spa bath - enough room to swing a cat (or maybe a large dog). Clean, quite, fairly good bed, great location, easy (and cheap) nearby street parking (50p for 4 days). Definitely not a 5 star place (I'd give it a fair 3) but no real dramas, nice place, and more than meets expectations. Great to be able to spread out for once (most UK accom is the size of a shoebox). Only minor issue was payment; our booking said payment would be charged in full on credit card several days prior to arrival but had to pay on arrival instead. It simply shocked us as it wasn't expected and different to our booking terms. All good overall and not a problem once I'd confirmed my credit card hadn't been charged for the booking, just a touch confusing at the outset.

Very odd location in the centre of Whitby. No parking except down an alley that is very narrow. Breakfast good value but not clear what is included or not. The noise of the live band was deafening and kept us up!

Nice locatoin bathroom needs a refurbisment
I didn't realise how inconvenient it was to park the car. The room was spacious and very clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. But the old fashioned shower fitting was abyssal. So for the price we paid it certainly wasn't good value !!

Comfortable, convenient Whitby hotel
My wife and I wanted somewhere central to enjoy a relaxed August bank holiday weekend in Whitby without having to rely on the car, and Resolution was more than adequate. We were situated on the first floor above the bar and were initially a bit concerned that it might prove noisy, but noise didn't prove to be a problem at all, and we were very impressed with how spacious both our room and bathroom were. Indeed, we did think more could have been done with the bathroom; the shower and bath only took up the corner, with only a small mirror tile above the sink; the lack of a floor length mirror was a bit of an oversight. A larger bath and shower would have been nice, or considering how much room there is they could even squeeze in a hot tub and bump the price up a bit! Given the time of year the room did get a little hot, but a fan was provided; we ate breakfast at the bar once, and though this wasn't included in the price of our accommodation it was good food at a fair price. We were also impressed to get on-street parking for up to four days for only £2; this did mean parking a few streets away but we didn't consider this an unreasonable distance.
