Lovely friendly place to stay.
Lovely friendly staff, and comfortable room and bed, although the windows were very drafty, alright in the summer, not so for a winter stay. The shower cubical was very small in our room. We are not the smallest in size, but we could not turn around in the shower, with about an inch between the shower tap and the narrow sliding doors, made for a very interesting showering experience. The room it self did not have much space between the walls and the bed, but that is because of the building and that cannot be changed, Just do not take to much luggage. There were very few channels on the TV when arrived, we and the owner tried to retune it a couple of times, but by the next day we had no channels at all, and was told it was because it was on a different signal than the 5 or 6 TVs in the bar area showing sports and were told nothing could be done about it. We had no TV for the whole 3 night stay. Not so bad for us, but if you had children needing to be entertained before bed time, it could be annoying. We had a lovely Sunday roast on the day we arrived, that was still available up to 6 in the evening. The breakfast menu had a good selection of cereals and cooked food. There were lots of people eating in the bar area throughout the day and evening, with a lovely atmosphere, very dog friendly. Plenty of spirits behind the bar and wondering around in the night, it is reported to be the second most haunted place in Weymouth.

Nice place, needs upgraded
Over priced for a place that needs the showers scrubbed as the mould was disgusting. Room needed a good lick of paint. People were friendly and polite.

Wow, what a great stay lovely clean room, very cosy cottage feel.Great pub food and drinks.The staff were all lovely.Oir breakfast was great.We will be back for sure

The room wasnt clean, shower was dirty and hairs in bed and on pillows. There was a band on live playing directly below our room till after 11 which is fair enough but there was no pre warning and we had to have an early start the following day. Food ok, staff friendly.

Wasn't sure what to expect when I booked the room at the spice ship due to it being part of a pub. But was pleasantly surprised. The service was really good, staff were really friendly and accommodating, and to top it off the food was tasty. They even offered a continental breakfast to be dropped outside the door because I was leaving before breakfast started in the morning.

The staff were very helpful and pleasant. We ate at the pub a couple of times and the food was tasty and reasonably priced, freshly cooked pub food. Breakfast was great with plenty of choice. The room had recently been redecorated and was clean and comfortable. The hosts added a couple of little extra touches which were a pleasant surprise. I believe the pub is under new management and having read some of the previous reviews, was very pleasantly surprised. There is bus stop immediately outside the pub, which will take you straight into Weymouth within a 10 minute ride.

Great location, friendly staff, lots of places to eat, beautiful area to walk about. Great breakfast. There is something about the old pubs that chain hotels cannot duplicate. I would stay again.

Dirty, mold, no heating, no towels,no toilet paper
This is a very run down and dirty place. We had to ask for towels (only one for 3 people in the room and NO large towels for showering). The room smelled and looked like mold was everywhere in the corners. The heating did NOT work (there were 2 heaters, one did not even have a handle). The windows and curtains were black with dirt. It was also noisy from the street. The carpet was severely stained and you had do slam your whole body against the door to actually enter the room, it otherwise would not open. We luckily only stayed one night (otherwise we would have left for sure). Good things? The shower at least was hot and the breakfast was a lot, the staff in the restaurant was friendly. I honestly have no idea where they got their good reviews from. I suppose those are for the Pub only, it cannot be for their rooms. We also had to ask for toilet paper..... Eat there, but do not stay there!

Unclean - and no refund as promised
We cut our stay short because the bathroom to our room was so unclean. We politely informed the manager, who said we would get a refund from hotels.com for the night we would no longer be staying. Hotels.com said that the Spice ship should have refunded us there are then. Hotels.com then said they contacted the manager who refused our refund request. We are still without our money. Do not stay here!

Lovely stop near weymouth.
Lovely pub and atmosphere. The staff are brilliant, helpful and friendly. Food was good in the evening, the breakfast was brilliant. Only down side was bathroom a bit tired and needs a re vamp . Would i stay here again, a most definite, yes...

Friendly stay.
A nice stay helped by friendly staff. A good hearty breakfast was served. However, the old sash windows need cleaning and maintenance, especially those along the landing.

August Bank Holiday
This is a great pub with a limited number of rooms. I was a singleton and had a small but adequate room. The bed was too soft for my liking and the breakfast did not start till 08.30 - which was a bit late for me. However, the pub, the food and the service were all really good. I preferred to stay and eat here rather than take the 1.5 mile trip into Weymouth - where I would not have been able to park anyway.
