The food was delicious- we had the breakfast and, even as a big eater, I had to leave some of the full veggie english (amazing sausages!)! The pancakes were great too! We also used the packed lunch making facility for our climb to Helvellyn (which you can do from the hotel!) and this was also really nice. Would highly recommend. The only thing that would improve the hotel for me would be a dry room...

"We had a lovely stay overall. We visited for one night and were kindly given a complimentary upgrade to a lodge room, which was a really thoughtful touch. The staff were incredibly helpful throughout, and the breakfast was excellent. I’m unable to comment on the evening dining or spa facilities as we didn’t use them—unfortunately I couldn’t access the spa due to being pregnant—but they looked fantastic from what we saw and from the photos. The only downside was the cleanliness, which didn’t quite meet expectations. When we checked in, there were dead bugs on the bed and side table, and quite a few cobwebs in the outdoor area of the lodge, which meant we didn’t use the seating outside. At breakfast, we also noticed dead flies on the windowsills, which isn’t what you’d expect from a hotel of this standard. That said, everything else about our stay was great, and we would return. It just felt like the cleaning standards may have slipped slightly during the weekend we visited."
