Cosy room, friendly staff and great food
Although this was the first time I'd stayed at Crown Inn, I have previously eaten in their restaurant so I knew to expect the friendly, warm welcome that I received from all the staff. I'd booked one of their 'dog friendly' rooms, which was separate from the main building but still furnished and maintained to the same high standard. It wasn't a large room but it had the usual amenities and would comfortably suit a couple or solo traveller such as myself, with or without a small to medium sized dog. The bed was very comfortable, allowing a peaceful night's rest and the rainfall shower felt wonderful after a long day walking on the fells. Breakfast was included with my room booking. Served in the main restaurant, the menu is well thought out to cater for all tastes. I opted for the full English, which was delicious and the waiter was even kind enough to provide a rasher of bacon for my canine companion. I also ate my evening meals in the Crown. The menu offered the usual British pub classics cooked to an excellent standard and reasonably priced. I thoroughly enjoyed them. The Crown backs onto the River Eamont with a lovely paved outdoor seating area and grass bank down to the water that provides the perfect view of the new Pooley Bridge — opened in October 2020 to replace the 18th Century bridge that was washed away by floodwater in 2015.

Lovely!
Overnight stop in the lakes on the way home from Scotland; the Crown Inn is a lovely hotel with friendly, attentive staff. Covid processes worked well. We would consider returning for a longer stay in future.
