A little off the beaten track but this hotel is of exceptional quality and it a bargain for the price we paid. VERY quiet and comfortable. Superb breakfast too.
We'll definitely return!

Lovely pub with rooms. Went for a friends birthday and had a super time. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
I’m coeliac and the choice of gluten free food was very good. The fish and chips were excellent!
Would highly recommend.

Excellent hotel. The room was large with an incredibly comfy bed and good powerful shower. The staff were really helpful and friendly and the breakfast really good. We ate in the restaurant both nights. A special thank you to Ben our waiter. We would highly recommend Bel and the Dragon.

Absolutely lovely stay at The Royal oak. Beautifully decorated throughout, with a really warm and homely feel. Staff were welcoming, dinner and breakfast were first-class and my room was spotlessly clean with a great bathroom and comfy bed. Would definitely return, I stayed for work but it would be a lovely place for a weekend away.

We were looking for an overnight stop travelling back North from Southampton and came across here. There was a big extension being built to the front of the pub so parking was difficult but otherwise caused no inconvenience. We had 3 rooms and all were very comfortable and well equipped . What stood out about this place was the staff, all were genuinely lovely and friendly. Checked in and personally shown to our rooms. We ate at the pub and the food was quickly served and was simply delicious...

Staff were lovely. Had a long drive and arrived on the cutoff for ordering dinner, but thankfully the staff were kind enough to still let us order. We had both dinner and breakfast, both were absolutely delicious. There was some games we could borrow which we enjoyed playing in the bar, only small disadvantage is the bar closed at 10:30. Room was very clean, stocked with tea and coffee and the extra pillows in the wardrobe was a nice addition. Overall, we had a very peaceful, relaxing stay.

A very comfortable last minute stay in this lovely pub. The rooms are very cosy and comfortable, the service outstanding and the food just delicious. The only thing I'd change is the plug and bright green fire escape lighting that illuminates the room too much for a good night's sleep. Overall a very lovely stay.

The Hotel was located amongst beautiful grounds. It was a combination of old and new build and very clean in all public spaces. Staff were extremely welcoming, helpful and knowledgable about the local area. Our room was very spacious and well equipped with fabulous views down to the river and was spotlessly clean too (except for what appeared to be a blood stained bath towel!) Breakfast was most enjoyable and there was plenty of delicious food and drink to choose from.

From the moment we checked in the whole stay was second to none, normally this is a one or perhaps two night stay but we had about a week there. The staff were so helpful and very courteous on all levels, the room was clean and lovely bath towels provided. We used the fridge and iron and there video choices, even the water provided was a welcome touch. The morning breakfasts were delightful and catered for everyone, staff exceptional even when busy. We recently returned and stayed in a comfy double room last weekend.
Very well maintained hotel, room and facilities. The room was spotless. Great choice of indoor and outdoor seating and restaurant and bar services.
We were satisfied with the gym. We didn’t use the sauna and steam rooms this time.
Not the quietest of venues during event nights.

We used the hotel as a base to visit the Bombay Sapphire gin factory which was very close by.
It was an emotional visit for me as i last saw the hotel as my boarding school in 1968 I also fount my initials carved on a wall I remember this even after 48 years The hotel was fantastic we enjoyed our stay for one night and had a lovely breakfast. The only disappointment was the evening meal We did now want anything grand so chose the bar menu

When is the best time to go to Wasing?
The best time to visit Wasing is typically during the late spring and summer months, from May to September, when the weather is generally mild and the estate's natural beauty is at its peak.
For couples planning a romantic getaway or a special occasion, June and July offer the longest daylight hours and the warmest temperatures, great for enjoying the Wasing Estate's extensive gardens and lakeside walks. These months are ideal for outdoor activities and make the most of the picturesque surroundings.
Families often find the school holiday period in August to be a convenient time. The weather remains pleasant for exploring the estate's grounds, and there are often family-friendly events or activities organised in the broader Berkshire area.
