"What a gem of a find, we stayed for one night whilst travelling from England to Spain. We was warmly greeted on arrival and went straight into the pool after a very long day. The host then prepared a fantastic 3 course home cooked meal with wine. Room was spacious, clean and bed comfy, with a wonderful views over the vineyards. In the morning a lovely prepared breakfast outside and the friendly hosts couldn’t be more accommodating. We will 100% be returning each year as we travel to Spain, thank...

"This was terrific value for money and would happily stay again. While it's a good 15 mins or so up a hill from the station, for £40 or so, there's nothing at all to complain about- big rooms with cooking facilities, microwave and even a dishwasher should you need it, a lovely swimming pool and staff who were knowlegable and extremely helpful; particularly Guaytan , who couldn't have been more efficient and personable. All in all, very good."

"La chambre tait propre et bien aménagée. Elle bénéficierait d'un petit rafraichissement, notemment dans la douche (buses de la tête de douche bouchée par le calcaire). Personnel très sympathique et chaleureux. La piscine ne ressemblait pas aux photos, fonctionnelle mais vieillotte. Le carrelage au sol autour de la piscine est un vrai piège en été, il devient brulant au soleil. Nid de guêpes juste à coté... je n'ai pas aimé mon passage à la piscine."

The staff were very friendly and helpful. Our rooms were spotlessly clean and comfortable with beautiful views.
The breakfast was charged extra and there was plenty of cereal, bread, cheese, meats, fruits and yoghurts etc. It is over 4 km from Carcassone and buses are infrequent but there is plenty of parking if you take a car.
We had a fabulous stay.

Beautiful and quiet hotel. Clean rooms and a really laid back atmosphere. Breakfast was nice but wasnt much variety. Eveything else was perfect, would stay again.

We initially had problems finding it due to our Satnav but it's so well located near Carrefour and the main road to the walled city. Excellent value for money.

This property is like the Jewel in the Crown!!
Firstly, don't be put off by the small number of excellent reviews as it has only opened this year. The hosts, Katy and Olivier, were both working in England for many years at a high quality and popular hotel in the Yorkshire Dales. Katy's family owned this Yorkshire hotel and Olivier was the head chef. When the family sold the Hotel, Katy & Olivier returned to his native France and then the Maison du canal du midi was born. Arrived very late to the hotel due to an incident on the way. They kept the restaurant opened late for us and made sure that we had anything we needed. Very friendly and welcoming staff. Couldn't have been better looked after.Thank you again.

Absolutely fantastic 2-day stay in the Royal Suite at Le Château de La Seigne. It’s only a 10-minute drive from Carcassonne, and Ubers had no trouble picking us up right at the gate quickly.
The château itself is stunning and beautifully restored, packed with character and cool features like vintage restored cars in the entrance garage, a working old-school jukebox near the hall and a characterful staircase up to the upper rooms.

A great stopover on our journey through France! The hotel was conveniently located to visit the medieval city and accessible from main roads in and out of Carcassonne. It was clean and modern with really helpful, friendly staff. The pool was a real bonus on a very hot day and we loved the grapevines lining the path into reception! Not seen that before!
Our room was clean and comfortable with air con.

Lovely hotel in an excellent location, just a short walk into the old town but also on a street with plenty of amenities of its own. Free parking nearby in the Place Barbicane which was easy to find and close to the hotel. The staff were really friendly and helpful, and breakfast was lovely, lots of choice and local products. The hotel garden was beautiful, and a cute if very small roof terrace too from which you can get a view of the city walls.

We stayed at the Hotel Campanile which is a 25-30 minute walk into the city or castle, the hotel staff were very friendly and helpful and the rooms were clean and the breakfast provided was of a good european standard and free WiFi available. I would recommend this hotel as long as you are prepared for the daily walk. Amazing break to the fantastic medieval town of Carcassonne, a must place to visit with the town full of history, bars and great eating establishments - highly recommend the...

Very clean, staff at reception very friendly, helped to organise a taxi for us. Perfect for an overnight stay on the way to the airport in Carcassonne.

The best area to stay in Trausse is right within the village itself, as it's a small, traditional French village offering a relaxed and authentic experience.
Trausse is a compact village, easy to navigate on foot, with its main hub often around the Mairie (town hall) and the local church. You'll find a few local amenities like a small grocery shop and a bar/restaurant, providing a genuine taste of rural French life. The streets are narrow and winding, typical of the region, and many properties are traditional stone houses.
Couples looking for a peaceful escape will find Trausse ideal. It's a wonderful base for enjoying the quiet beauty of the Minervois region, with opportunities for scenic walks and cycling through vineyards right from your doorstep. The village provides a calm setting to unwind after exploring nearby historical sites like the Canal du Midi or the medieval city of Carcassonne.
For families, staying within Trausse offers a comfortable and friendly environment. Children can enjoy the freedom of a smaller village, and there are often local parks or open spaces nearby.
When is the best time to go to Trausse?
The best time to visit Trausse is during the late spring (May-June) or early autumn (September-October) for pleasant weather and fewer crowds.
During late spring, the vineyards are lush and green, and the temperatures are comfortably warm, typically ranging from 18-25°C. This period is ideal for exploring the local countryside, visiting wineries, and enjoying outdoor activities like cycling or walking without the intense summer heat. You'll find many local markets starting up, offering fresh produce and regional specialities.
Early autumn also offers excellent conditions, with temperatures similar to late spring, usually between 18-24°C. This is harvest season, so you can experience the activity in the vineyards and often find special events at local wineries.
