We stayed in Torri Del Benaco for 5 days. The Hotel Al Caminetto was really nice. We had a lovely room, very clean and nice decor on the 3rd floor with a balcony with views to the lake. Breakfast was plentiful and the owners were very friendly.
Torri has an array of shops with a very pretty little harbour surrounded by restaurants and Castle Scaligero is well worth a visit.
Our favourite restaurant was the La Bottega Di Edita, just 5 mins from the hotel on the main road.
We took a bus into Verona -- 162 and return you have to change at Garda -- 184 which takes you through Torri and onwards. The stop is opposite the tabac and you buy your tickets from here.
Ferry trips across to Maderno from Torri or from the harbour. We took a trip up to Riva the north of the lake but a lot of the boat trips finish early Oct for the season.
Reception Staff helpful and polite. Breakfast good, limited hot food breakfast. Room good but pillar in the middle of it. Good storage space in room. Parking of car sometimes on a incline. Good stay would go back
We have just returned from this charming, well run small hotel - a short walk to the lakeside and Torri del Benaco itself. Staff are friendly and helpful. Rooms are kept spotlessly clean and all have a balcony. Breakfast buffet changes each day and is carefully chosen, well presented and frequently restocked.
Very good value.
Travelling alone I found the hotel to be small, friendly and superb staff with an excellent command of the English language and very helpful.
Great breakfast selection and beautifully presented. I had afabulous Lake view and the room was quite spacious if somewhat basic. I could not access English television but could get lots of music t.v. and radio. Do you really need to keep up with soaps when on holiday?
If you do not have a car or not willing to use local buses (remember tickets are not got on the bus but in tabaccs etc,) it is quite a walk into town but as that is along the lakeside that is not too great a hardship. should there be a rare rainstorm (I got caught in one and became the proverbial drowned rat)it will feel a long long way.
Fabulous restaurants, The Fraderiana being a minutes walk away witht the added bonus of the local sculptors work on view in the grounds.....STUNNING! Good selection of restaurants in town too.
Bar David is a delightful Cafe/bar in Torri where staff are friendly, speak excellent English and provide the best live music on a Friday evening, get your seat early many of the locals like this venue too.
All my ventures out eneded back at the hotel where comfy bed, lashings of hot water awaited.
Although evening meal is not included there was a small fridge in the room which I filled with produce from local stores so at least could make sandwich etc if hungry.
The coffee is superb too, I began each day with at least 3 Americanos.

Lovely hotel good coffee great breakfast views from restaurant veranda great position for boat rides lots restaurant. One downside single rooms good size but window looks on to wall so very little light.otherwise great value
"Nice location but let down by lack of attention to detail"
On the minus side, the driver should have dropped me off at reception at the top but instead i had to drag my luggage all the way up steep steps in the dark. Not the hotel's fault, but not a very auspicious start. Also, the couple that run the hotel hardly spoke any English.A lady who could speak English turned up the next day to check me in and explain a few things but that was the only time i saw her during my stay. She was also supposed to book my transfer back to the airport but didn't even do that.I had to get the patron,Maria, to sort it out for me.The hotel provides free WIFI but the connection kept dropping and the signal was very weak.
On the plus side, despite Maria's lack of English, she was very willing to help.Rooms were nice, breakfast OK(catered more towards Italian/German tastes),setting was beautiful. There is also a lovely restaurant a couple of minutes from the hotel right by the lake. The food there was very good and if you go at the right time of day you can see the sun setting behind the mountains across the lake.If you don't have a car,as i didn't,don't rely too much on public transport. They seem to run to their own timetable. You can hire a bike from Torri del Benaco which is about 5km or so from the hotel.
